Ls2 Intake?!?

Default Ls2 Intake?!?

I just bought a LS2 Itake for my ls1 cheap and thought it would be the bang for the buck over TPIS ls6 90mm. Now i have read that they leak and i have had ppl tell me not to worry about it since i am NA.
Build plans are CAM, 1 7/8x3in LTs TSP 100mm air lid.
Possible TSP MS4 cam
LS2 intake with TPIS 90mm TB

Now is there any way to ensure that that intake wont leak ill send it out to
LS2portworks if i can get it ported and sealed good if it doesn't coast a arm and a leg and does anyone know the price on this.

I am hunting for 435-450WHP

I have seen the ms4 in a stock car w pacesettler LTs and svo injectors on a SD tune put down 421WHP and 396TQ with a 75mm ls6 intake.....any ideas guys i need some help

I don't know if its as easily remedied as the truck manifold, but I have block sanded them in the past and had a 100% success rate. I use a long piece of 2x4 with a 150 grit air file pad on it, and it takes it down flush without damaging the sealing surface. Just be sure to straight edge frequently as you sand and make all efforts to keep the debris out of the intake runners.

P.S., the truck manifold has a revised design intake gasket that is the main cause of vacuum leaks--worth checking on. I think i may have worked on a total of 2 or 3 LS6 engines, and not too many more LS2s, but never have heard of this.

Well the problem is not so much the seal from the intake to the head its the intake is 2 pieces like the fast no one solid piece like the ls6 and ls1

As for me haven a ls6 tpis i dont have on i wish i did...

Has anyone out there tried using An LS2 on 346? Anyone messed w porting them?

That is not what I have heard, it maybe the worst made intake, but it still flows better than the LS1, though the LS6 is the best stock intake.

I'll see if I can find the comparisons that I read.

I have read enough test showing a correctly ported LS2 intake making within 5hp/5tq of a unported Fast across the entire RPM range to make me think it's a cheap alternative to a $800+ intake if your on a budget & still running a stock LS1 but want to get a 90mm intake/TB combo.

I recently bought a ported LS2 intake done by LS2portworks.com & a BlueMaxx 90mm TB for a few hundred less than a Fast 90 alone. So if it'll get me within even 10rwhp/10tq of a Fast 90 I'll consider it money well spend over my stock LS1 intake.

True to that i feel the same way i just bought a ls2 for alot cheaper than a used ls6 and i willing to give it a shot i wouldn't mind putting it up against the tpis ls6 90mm just for fun to get the real facts but i dont have that kinda money at the time but i do have free dyno time going for me, the only thing i am worried about is its 2 piece design and may leak?....duno how true this is but why would gm design a worst intake they always make there stuff better as time goes on.

Did you have your leak at all?

I ran a unported LS2 intake on my old 346 with no problems. Made 423hp 367tq on a very stingy dyno. You will need to run the LS2 fuel rails with spacers and buy some LS2 fuel injector o-rings. The map sensor goes on the front of the LS2 intake so you will need an extension harness.

I haven't installed mine yet. It's goin on my forged 347 when it's done. Along with my 5.3 heads & a custom ground cam. I already got the Katech MAP sensor extension & injector adapter kit. I'm running Edlebrock fuel rails with braided lines, so no rail issues. I'm making custom brackets for the rails cause mine were bought used.

I don't know if it leaks or not honestly. It's brand new never been installed. I bought it off a buddy local & it came with the Katech kits. I'm very interested to see how it'll perform. I definetly won't have a solid comparison though since it'll be a whole new motor combo, but I'm sure the dyno & track numbers will show how it's performing in the end.

I have a buddy you ran the BBK with great success, I have nothing against that intake. But you add in a good 80mm TB with it & the combined price is more than I gave for a 90mm intake/TB combo. So I opted this route.

When people say it leaks, they mean it is between the runners, because it is a 3 piece bonded item, i went from a ported LS2 manifold to a Fast, and a more aggressive cam and picked up 70rwhp.

Thats on a bigger cubed stroker motor also correct? Also your Fast is listed as ported along with a fairly large cam. I can see you picking up that much from a ported Fast & larger cam on a stroker fairly easily.

They work, I mean they flow air but they are just as bad as an LS1 intake. I would start saving for a FAST and just keep the LS2 intake for now. Trying to get out cheap will cost you at some point.

how could the ls1 and ls2 be almost the same there is like a 8yr differance lt1 dave is the one who has gotten a ported ls2 with in 1 hp and 2 tq of an un ported fast 90 and for the price that cant be beat fast is just to expensive unless you can find one around 550

personally id never pay over 600 shipped for one but thats me sheetmetal is only 2k

I would need a link to even begin to believe that a ported LS2 inatke can remotely perform like a FAST. No way it will carry to 7K. I have a ported LS2 now and my final mod will be a ported FAST 92 and I know it will add over 25rwhp with even more under the curve (H/C LS2).

I would go sheet metal if you don't want to spend the cash on a FAST. I would never try to run N20 on an LS2 intake. The main problem with thier 3 piece design is they are vacum'd together and they leak air between the cylinders causing leaner/richer conditions cylinder to cylinder.

Cory (LS2port works) always says ported LS2's are 8-12rwhp from porting only and a FAST "should" add atleast that. You can gain an additional 20-25rwhp on top of that going to a ported FAST. Nothing is cheap in this hobby.


You can make 435 through an LS2 though, so as long as thats your goal, youre good.

Ask Cory if you should go ported FAST or ported LS2....
