Noteworthy statement there John.

Had been planning on using my old ls1 stuff on my ls2/ls3 build, but if you're gonna twist my arm..

On the hand of pricing. The LSA/9 uses a coil harness that exits from the back of the valve cover for space reasons obviously. You can use any harness that will plug into the LS2/7 coil to save some money from buying a new harness, but that rear exit also keeps down on clutter from the intake area. You would have to make arrangements on a stock harness though to make them plug in the rear.

The valve covers themselves are 132.84 a piece. Like mentioned earlier, they require 1 extra coil and 4 bolts. The coils are 68.75 per and the bolts are 3.05 per. Then factor in the valve cover cap @ 6.91.

If you want the rear exit harness they are side specific obviously, and are $75 per side.

I hope that helps.
got any pictures of this harness? and i buy say a ls3 coil or a ls3 harness. will it save me any money since it isnt "ls9"

thanks

Time is money, how much do you want to spend?

They are the same coil. They are they are also the same coil as, all the newer gen trucks 4.8/5.3/6.0/6.2 as well as the LS4, LS9, LSA, LS7, LS2, LS3 and L99. There is no "LS9" only coil. They are all the same price. Meaning if you have some aftermarket coils that are the LS2/7 style, they are a direct replacement as well.

12623412. I doubt they would have them though. If you do not do alot of HP work, they dont normally "go out".

I do believe so, but I cannot say for 100% because I do not have them here. The last set we have is being used on an engine build, and I do not want to take the parts then them not be found days later. I have some on order, they should be here in a day or so for me to take physical pictures of and answer any questions lest someone raise their hand again.

The coil itself has a different style plug than the LS1 style coils but the 2 main plugs for the coil harness on each side is the same for all years...

John, going off your quote ^^^. so all the new "truck coils" are the same as the "ls" coils?

so only differenc is coil for years. is like the 98-02 f-body is different than the year 2000's truck.

so last questions. anyone know how the new "LS" coil comparies to the truck coil everyone alsways goes to?

thanks

I am not sure how to properly approach this. The "truck" engine are "LS" engines. I am not sure of your distinction there. The new truck coils have been the same as the LS2/7/3 coils since the L92 came out, so that would make it 07 ish. Then the LS4 which would be 05+ as well as the 05/06 gto.

i know the truck is a "LS" that is why i put quotes on.

what i mean is. lets say a 2002 truck, it has different coils from 2002 trans am(f-body)

so since 07 all coils are the same? correct?

so is the 07 plus coils better than like the 02 trucks coils that everyone switches too.

that is my question.

sorry about the rambling. just wanted to to learn. and replace the bad coil i have.

thanks

I could not tell you if they are better or not. I think the normal gain from the truck coils are on high boost applications and where a well qualified tuner can control the dwell on the coils. For a regular bolt on and go, you will prob see a small difference, but not enough to register afaik.

so if any of the later ls coil harnesses will work, is there an advantage to going with the more expensive ls9 harness? do any of them look different?

John, The LS9 specific harness your referring to would be the harness off a ZR1 correct? The reason I ask is I had a look and there's a lot more wrapped up in that harness than just the wiring for the coil packs. The coil packs, fuel injectors & IAT sensor (I think) is all wrapped up in the same harness that goes to a single 14 pin connector. I don't think it will be a plug & play deal on a LS1 F-body. I attached a picture for reference.

I found this pic on google for a coil pack reference. It claims there is a difference in LS2/L98 coil vs LS7's. It looks like they all have the same bolt pattern. Maybe is a difference in the electrical connectors?
