The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
So I choose to do it these way started with OEM covers:

Engine heat is free to radiate from the covers and the base for the coil relocation brackets are on non metallic base to avoid direct heat conduction. Wiring harness for both coil/fuel injection are isolated within marine grade split loom to protect from engine heat as well.
That is just my interpretation derived from my own opinions.
Other makers (as well as GM in OHC engines) use the COP setup where the coils are pressed into the valve covers and certainly absorb even more heat without issue.
The only way to make ignition coils perform "better" is swapping them to higher output coils and a tune to take advantage of them. And these gains have been hit or miss.
What does engine heat do to plastic, wiring and wiring connectors in the long term? Ever break off connector locks while disconnecting?
I did not do a before and after temperature check with any instrument, but touching by hand while engine is already hot is doable as compared to before relocation. Cool down after is certainly takes a whole lot less time.
Knowing the simple fact that the same components are no longer exposed to direct heat conduction, insulated as well as isolated while in the some hostile environment is enough to satisfy me.
Manufacturers will streamline and simplify component packaging anyway they can to save a buck and increase their profit margin. But when I see flaws, then I will do what I can to improve any given situation.
But to each his own.
