That's what I did. Sold the spare cover for $50 on tech AND I have an extra coil!

edited pricing post (#99) to include cost of 3 covers

Also, this may be common knowledge, but I have had some questions about it, so I wanted to address it...

Put the cover with the filler neck/filler cap/breather hole on the passenger side, and you can use either the LS9 Filler cap ($7.49) or the LSA filler neck ($20.49)...and you can fill from the front.

Just want to double check, these are either higher or have more space around the rockers and won't need clearancing like the ls1 covers correct?

Beau,

I recently noticed that you have John's account, but the name has been changed to yours. Does he no longer work there or does he have another position? I've had a lot of great dealings with him and he's been a huge help in my build so far.

I have T&D rockers, and i am guessing i will have to get a spacer made or i'll have to buy one - no big deal. But when i get them i will see if they clear and post here.

I just have factory rockers with the bearing modification and a high lift cam. I know I'd have to mill out my ls1's to get them to work. If these won't need modification I'd rather just buy these lol.

Edit: I just clearanced the heck out of my ls1's for now.

For the driver side LS9 coil pack harness, can anyone tell me how long the pigtail is from the main connector to the first coil pack connector? I'm doing a coil relocation on my 2011 Camaro and I need the connector to be at the rear and some extra length to make it work without an extension harness. Thanks!

Can someone explain to me the oil fill cap? I have read it is a "non-removable LS9 cap" in other threads? Some state I need an LSA removable cap for a wet sump conversion, but how would I put it on these valve covers if it has a "non-removable cap"? Thanks.

These valve covers are used on both the Supercharged LS9 and LSA engines. The LS9 is a dry sump engine so the cap you are referring to is a 'block-off cap'. The LS9 engine oil is added to the remote oil reservoir tank, not the engine itself. The cap locks into place the same as a filler neck because it is not designed to removed or used as an oil filler cap. Here is a picture of the 'block-off' cap:

Here is an illustration of the LS9 engine compartment that shows where the remote oil fill cap is located:

In most cases when using the LS9/LSA valve covers with our wet-sump engines, we use the LSA configuration which uses an LSA oil filler neck and cap located on the passenger side of the vehicle. Here is a picture of my 402ci with the LSA configuration:

I hope this answers your questions.

I wonder which cap SDPC is quoting on their post from earlier? I assume you can remove the LS9 one to add oil though, right?

What are the part numbers for the LS9 setup and then the part numbers for the LSA setup? It looks like the LSA one is probably 3-4 parts if you include orings.

Thanks.

No, the LS9 cap 'snap locks' same as a filler tube does.

LSA Filler Tube: Part Number 12609623 (comes with O-ring)
LSA Oil Cap: Part Number 12583570 (comes with O-ring)

I got mine because ls1 covers dont clear ls3 rockers, so yes they provide more clearance. Although, may need more for aftermarket setups (as mentioned)

back when i got mine it came with the "cap" i took it on and off (before it was on the car) and it seemed to come off okay..

i cant say the same for the filler elbow from my ls1 covers.

i guess that explains why it doesnt have any 'oil fill info' on it, but i hope it wont be an issue in the future.
