what would you expect to pay for a blown motor
im looking at a lq4 that has some internal engine damage, i believe the damage is so bad the motor can not be rebuilt. i was just wondering what i should expect to pay for a useless motor. im getting it from a junk yard. should i ask to pay just whats it worth in scrap metal weight?

no im just looking for a motor to tear apart and play with i dont really need any of the parts off of it. i was thinking i could play with the heads and do some ghetto porting and just try to learn while im tearing it down.
im still looking for a motor, i found out the reason the motor has damage was because it was a cash for clunker sale and they are not able to sell the motors from those vehicles, he did say he had a running 5.3L with 48k miles that he would sell for $350 but i dont know if i want to pay that much for a motor i really dont have a need for. are there any parts i could put on my ls1 such as the heads, throttle body, or intake and make some power with, or would it be better to just have my stock ls1 heads ported and get a fast intake when im ready to do something like that. also i put chromoly pushrods, dual valve springs and ti retainers in my stock heads so i really dont want to have to pull those off and swap them to a new head any time soon.

Even if I didn't have a home for a LS engine, $350. for a low milage 5.3L is a good deal. I'd snag it and look for a conversion
