ss hood modification
ss hood modification ok got a 408 in my car with a gmpp intake and getting a 4150 throttle body.. any one ever cut the back side of the ss scoop out and made a "ram air" or cold air inlet for a carb style filter? i dont wanna run an elbow.. and i have been looking online not being able to find anything!!!
basically cut out the section outlined in black.. and clean it up with fiber glass.. have it resprayed and then under the hood have a "plate" if u will bolted around or under the throttle body that would have the air filter on it.. and would be a more effective setup for a 4150 throttle body???? any ideas or thoughts?

Kinda like the C2/C3 L88 hoods, the breather has a rubber seal that goes around the hood and that where their air comes from. I would look into the rubber from one of those hoods and see if you can find a lid from an older vette or something with that style, then cut your hood to fit the opening on the lid. Best I can help.
yea i have been looking in jegs for info on lower plates but i cant find ****.. i have access to a sheet metal break so i am thinking about making and fabing up my own that will seal up.. and then rebracing the hood with metal then glass it all back in.... still up in the air about this though... good thing its not a real ss hood haha!!!!

I know they have some for LT1's 94-97 Camaros with the SS hood, but I am uncertain if they will fit a 98-02.... I have thought about this myself, but have not taken the steps.....

like i mentioned you are gonna have to do some fab work , its not something that is common enough of a mod that i could see a company making a exact item for
i was in the same boat with my 04 gto , and i ended up switching back to the regular style intake manifold

A local guy is running a gen 1 sbc in his 96 camaro with an ss hood. he fabbed his own TB shroud to seal to the hood. Since it was an LT1 i think the hood was already cut to force air where it needed and he doesnt run a filter since it is a race car
