Default Ported Fast 102 vs. Ported LS3

Will be running a 6.0L LQ bttm end, LS3 Polluter Cam, and CNC'd LS3's...I know Mamo or Pat G (cant remember) did some tests sometime back but I would like to hear some opinions...Cost of the Fast isn't a factor but is the extra cost worth it...was planning on going w/ a Vegeance racing ported 102....Appreciate any advice thx.

Katech did a comparison between a fast 102 and the BER ported ls3 and the difference was 7hp. Now add porting to the fast and the gains will be more especially on higher hp and big cube motors.

Yea I just read that so id probably see around a 15-20 hp difference after porting, not a huge gap in price seeing I can use LS3 Fuel rails....

If you got the cash its worth the coin if youre out of other things to do. I wish I could afford a ported fast, but a regular one is steep enough right now.

Unless there was a more recent comparison, the 7hp was the gain from porting, not the difference between Fast and BER.

Heres the link of the comparison:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...manifolds.html

In that comparison, Fast gained 8HP/7TQ. Note other brands who ported intakes actually lost HP/TQ.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...s3-intake.html

In that test, BER gained 7HP/5TQ

So Fast was 1HP/2TQ more than BER. Better? I guess, but not for how much money it costs.

I had my intake manifold ported by a local shop(Cordes Performance Racing in Mesa Az). They wanted some data for a bone stock LS3, so I volunteered my 2011 C6. They covered labor costs and dyno time. I just paid for the ported intake if it picked up power. It did, so I paid them.

My car is a bit of an anomaly in that it is right about 400rwhp stock. My dyno a year ago was 404rwhp/399rwtq on a Dynojet with my Callaway CAI installed. We used a Dynapack today and baseline was 397.2rwhp and 402.8 rwtq with the stock LS3 air intake. Right after the baseline we put the ported intake on and dyno'd it again. 407.8rwhp and 410.9rwtq was the result.

We then put my Callaway back on and it was 413rwhp. For some reason it was pulling timing to 10* and ramping back up to 17* with the Callaway installed. It wasn't doing that with the stock air intake on the car. I don't know if it was heat soaked by that point or something with the Callaway causing the car to pull timing.

This was all done within about an hour and a half on the dyno with no tune changes. We noticed the mid range AFR went from 11.7 with the stock intake to 11.9 with the ported. At the top of the RPM range over 6000rpm they were both reading 12.2-12.3. I'm happy with the results as they can only get better as I further modify the car.

Stock intake manifold and stock air intake vs. ported intake manifold and stock air intake. Stock GM tune.

Old dyno sheet with Callaway installed and stock GM tune:

Damn if that's the case lol...I could live w:/ the 1 hp difference and save a few bucks w/ the LS3.

For a grand you could just add the hose (nos) and blow the numbers away.

OP you don't have the cubes to need a FAST 102 an Ls3 will be more than enough. Get it when you stroke that Lq!

There is nothing to port on a FAST 102! Period. You can match the runners to the heads but that's about it. If a vendor or anyone else said they ported your FAST 102 they are liars. Me and Chris1313 opened mine up and all we did was match the runners. So just save your money and just purchase a FAST 102 cause it needs nothing.

I dunno, search for Tony Mamo and FAST 102 he had a thread showing the huge amount of material he removes and had the flow data and stuff to back it up.

It was a 90 or 92, not much to remove from a 102, stop it tainted.

I opened mine up, you can see it. You won't get anyone to post pics unless you buy it lol. Not much to port bud, besides just matching it to the runners on your heads but that's about it.
