Default LS2 f-body and Kooks stroker headers= no knock sensors?

We installed Kooks 1 7/8" - 2" headers on my 99 Camaro that has a LS2 block. We are using the knock sensor relocation kit that came from SDPC, and on the driver side the headers are too close to the block and theres no way the knock sensor can fit. The passenger side knock sensor fits fine. Is there any other place that we can place that knock sensor?
I have read numerous posts where people question how well these knock sensor relocation kits work, and many choose not to use them at all. What do you guys suggest I do? They both fit fine when I had cheapo Pacesetter headers. thanks

I dont even use mine. Get a good tune. Small blocks have been running forever without em anyway with inferior technology!!

I have to agree with jermzz........these sensors have been nothing but a pain in the arss sice day one with all the false noises in these cars. Get a good tune in that thing and just turn them off. I've had mine off ever since the 427 went in. Just make sure you run some 93 octane fuel and have a good tune and you should be good as gold! Traver

are you trying to put them in the extra engine mount holes(10mm) or did you drill and tap the original knock holes that are 8mm.
The original holes are way down by the pan and shouldn't be in the way.

they should be fine in the original ls2 holes. you will need a bottoming tap so the sensor will tighten all the way if you decide to drill them

Use an 8.5mm drill then M10 x 1.5 hand tap.
Same both sides.

you will have to probably trim the long bolt on the starter too. It has two long bolts that hold it together and one may hit the sensor

I think his problem is that he's running the stepped header. I have the 1 7/8 Kooks and the knock sensors are tight as it is, I can't imagine a 2 inch primary coming by without hitting!Traver

Sorry I dont mean to hijack this thread, but I swapped an LS2 into my Z28 and tapped out the existing knock sensor holes to fit my LS1 knock sensors. It went smoothly, but I havent had them read any knock yet. I did get the car tuned right away, but I am worried that they might not be working. Maybe my car is just running properly, but I would think that they should atleast register a minute amount of knock once in a while even if it is false knock. Is there a way to check if they are even working?

I'm having the same problem on the drivers sides knock sensor being super close to the header (1/2" away). These are the LS1 style mounted in the LS2 spots. I drilled and tapped them. My question is can I mount them in the extra motor mount holes?

What is the LS2 sensor theard size? instead of tappin the block id rather retap my sensors. So Ls1 sensor in the LS2 stock position.

Default L side sensor hole

I used the 8mm hole right in behind the Alternator and the knock sensor fit fine. However, with the engine in the car, might be a beeeech ! You might be able to see the hole with the alternator in there, but don't remember.

I tapped mine out while the engine was sitting on the K member b4 I installed it in the car.

BTW I think the thread is 10 x 1.5
