Awesome to hear. Guess you'll heat cycle the motor a few times to get those rings to seal and then work on the tune, and head to the dyno ?

Been a long time coming, but can't rush quality. Great job and thanks for keeping us updated with Pictures and explanations. I can honestly say I don't know **** about building an engine and everything it takes to make it work but I do have one hell of a reference to look at !! Your thread. Great source of info. Hopefully the mods take notice and turn it into a sticky.

soo...do you want to come to houston and help me build an ls2? lol.

well ur really good at it man. amazing skills.

please post vids!!!![/QUOTE]

Getting a few miles on it, not that I would let that stop me. But I am pretty busy with work right now. I did get it inspected though. It passed with flying colors special thanks to HP Tuners.

I have some idle vids I will get up soon.

Glad it helped you out a bit....dyno is coming. Heck, may even be bold and take it to the track first. Engine is doing GREAT! All vitals look good, quiet valvetrain, and a nasty 1st and 2nd gear......defintely going to have to put the Bogarts back on with the Hoosier QTP 27x11.5's to hook this thing. The M/T 17" radials don't bite until the middle of Drive.

I have 82 miles on it and am getting ready to take it into work tomorrow and drop the oil.

Idle tuning is a bitch. That pesky surge is hard to get out of it. Still working on it, had to get some help though. On another note WOT looks pretty nice, sitting about 12.8:1 pretty rock solid.

I will also say it is very nice to be able to dirve this car and run the A/C. It was 85 the other day and never went over 203*F. With the compromised Procharger fan set up, auxillary fans and all I could have never done that before without it getting too warm for my liking.

The Circle D 4C seems like it will perform quite well for this combo at the strip and is something I am still feeling out from a driveability perspective. It definitely puts it right in the sweet spot when I mash it, this engine has nasty throttle response!! I am quite impressed and was a little taken aside when I first stabbed it WOT, 6700 RPM in a blink through 1 and 2. You certainly know you have a stall when driving it, leaving a stop on a slight grade with decent throttle input its up around 2500 RPM or so, on a down grade or level start it is not so loose, maybe 2000 or 2200 RPMs. When I get to the track I will log the shift extension and report back, that will be the real test to see if hangs with you 6-spd guys.

None worth posting. We've had alot of rain lately. I haven't had much opportunity to move forward on tuning. If all works out I will race it next week.

Made 4 runs at the track tonight and did some tweeking along the way.

Goal accomplished!

1st pass
11.19

2nd pass
11.12

3rd pass
11.02

4th pass
10.92

I know if I would have gotten a fifth I would have been in the 80's. It was still a little lean up top. I'm happy, the results are on target with similar 403's I think on the site. I am not sure on the weight currently, but I would guess it is within 50-75# compared to what it weighed at last year's Shootout which was a beastly 3810#.

Very nice ET's. Could you add what kind of 60's you were cutting ? Your old setup cut 1.4xx's, and was supercharged. How's the N/A 403 doing out of the hole ? 10.8'x with a little more track time, damn ! You are shitting and gitting bro! What kind of DA were you running in? Echoing someone elses comments, what kind of MPH did she run ?!?!? Awesome !

The NA 403 leaves GREAT, special thanks to Chris @ Circle D converters, this converter works quite well. This car has always hooked very well with the chassis/susp mods that have been done and the 27x11.50 Hoosier QTPs.

Best 60' of the night was a 1.508
MPH was 122.83
DA ranged from 1800' to about 1200' - temps in the mid to low 70's throughout the night.

So I think it is safe to say that in the Fall months where we see DA's in the
-400 range with temps in the 50's, that I will see some 10.60's @ 125/126 out of this car, maybe even a 10.50. Remember this is a complete, heavy F-Body minus drag wheels.

I still have some minor WOT tune issues to address (adding some fuel), but I do not think that there is too much left, maybe a mph or two. But I am confident after reviewing the data that a mid 10.80 would have happened on the fifth pass, maybe even a little more. The car picked up a .1 by adding 2% across the PE table between the 3rd and 4th pass and the A/F was still 13.3 ish.

I noticed a .7-.9 shift towards LEAN in the AFR under WOT with the cut-out opened vs. closed, so adjustments were needed to WOT fueling at the track and I didn't discover it early on. In a nutshell it should have been enrichened even more, might have been worth .2 or a little more once down in the 12.8:1 range, the car ran harder with more fuel. I'll just have to wait and see.

The car never saw the dyno with this set-up, it has only been street/track tuned. Sorry... no dyno numbers, hasn't been a priority. At some point it will get strapped down, but not really for tuning sake, just for the 'number', the track, IMO, is a much better choice for FINAL tuning.

A BIG thanks to Steve at TunedbyFrost. He has been great to work with, although still working out some idle issues that have been out of his control (TPS flicker concerns) and some COLD start concerns, the help has been EXCELLENT!

Loaded a video from last night.

Thanks!

Where did you get that aluminum 45* breather stand again for the valve cover? I can't find that damn thing anywhere.

I think if it were in a Vette chassis MPH would be up on the North side of 125, especially with a 6-spd, maybe closer to 130. Have you got any numbers from the track on your car?

Didn't you call Ron at Vengeance about the breather? He said he has them. Recheck the online store, it was added per Ron.

My numbers are nothing to brag about. +2400 da, 1.94x 60 time 11.59x @ 126.72 mph. A lot more in her. Granny shifting, and some shifting issues that have been dealt with. Tranny redone by D&D performance, and Tick Adj Master recently added. She shifts a lot better now. No more sticking in gear or not being able to get into the next gear. I went back in some cool air, -700 da or slightly better and cut a 1.71 60 so my et was looking to drop and the better da pretty much guaranteed a higher MPH. Long story short I broke the tranny output shaft which became a torpedo and took out my diff. All back together, running great and now I just need the time to go. Shitty weather up here, rainy and unpredictable. Would like to go in the fall for sure.

Very nice, I'm sure you'll get some 50's out of it before it's said and done.
This is truly a great thread. Thanks for enlighting many of us on how to build a motor and doing it the right way. I know it took alot of your time with just the pics and posting all of this after many hours of working on the build. And it didn't take long at all from the start to getting it on the track. Great job.

No, I will check with Vengeance. Thanks! Yeah, love that Negative DA, we get our share of that too. Looking forward to it, already gone for the Spring. Your car is strong.

Thanks, no problem George, sorta ties into my line of work, besides I gained alot of knowledge from this forum over the last few years....might as well give a little back. I think in the Negative DA it might get those High 50's, especially if I get it into the bottom 80's this time of year.. Heck, this thing should go better than my 'ole Procharger set up did with a 150 hit.

Got some track photographer pics to share from the other evening. Not too shabby. Special thanks to Mr. Bret Kepner, he always does a nice job for us here.
