Default Who to go with for a LS3 lonblock???

Looking for best bang for buck!!!

Looking at a LS3 416-418 CI with heavy ported LS3 heads and nasty cam. Looking for 550+ RWHP N/A in a f-body, 6 speed, 12- bolt. I want to stay with the FAST 102 mm intake and TB. Going with a nitrous plate jetted for 200 shot? This is more drag car then street. I have all the supporting suspension mods.

Who to go with?
and what am I looking to spend for this long block?

I know I need the conversion kit. Best place to get that?

Or other suggest is welcomed too!!!

Thanks Art

Talk to Shawn at Virginia Speed for the short block and Richard at West Coast Cylinder Heads (proheads.com) for some great Stage 3 L92/LS3 heads.

I am VERY impressed what I have seen by Va. Speed (on here) but I have seen some HKE motors (in person) and decided they will do my 402. racer7088 is Erik from HKE on here. You should talk to him....... And yeah Richard's stage III's appear to be the best L92's out there...... Look at Kevin's thread for sure^^^^^^^...... I think it opened a lot peoples eyes......

As an engine builder myself, the advice and results I have seen from HK engines in TX are nothing less than impressive.

Why don't you call and ask that question to the guy who is going to do the build for you ... then you will know for sure instead of getting guesses from the rest of us ... that would seem logical don't you think ....

Sorry man!!! damn I was just trying to get a baseline from what others have spent. I have spoke to a couple different builders and in the range of $8000-$10000.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the nice comments. We did two recent LS3 416 builds that made right at 540 Hp at the wheels and 510 Tq with stock untouched LS3 heads and a mid 230s cam so 550 is easy easy easy. We have one guy on here who almost made that on a Mustang Dyno with a larger cam and some mild porting. I think 550-600 is possible on these heads with the right intakes. We have done some over 600 RWHP but they had non OEM shorter runner intakes.

I agree 100%, Eric Koenig of HKE Enterprises is simply one of the best LSx engine builders in the Country, and that is why I chose him to built my last forged LS6 f/i engine.

Default Wegner Motorsports = LS-x

I would also ask Dan "T" : Wegner Motorsports for a quote.

They are a VERY honest group with top quality parts.

Now is the time to "ask" them for a good deal.

Another vote for HKE<. I build my own stuff too, but If I didn't I would go with him (O.K. who am I kidding, I wouldn't be able to afford to do it otherwise). Seems he is as **** as me and more importantly has the right attitude to go along with his work ethic. Always a supporter of this site without the chest pumping SSP! One of those guys that lets the results speak for themselves. First class IMO.
