Default Comp Cams LSr question

I am building a stock bottom end LS2 with Trick Flow 220cc as cast heads cut to 59 cc's. Compression will be in the neighborhood of 11.6:1. I have been considering Comp Cam Part Number 54-460-11. Specs are 235/243 .621/.624 113 LSA. Any of you guys using it or a similar LSr lobed cam?

DO IT!!! I have been looking at that cam for while, There is a post on here about a guy who used it and he gained 79rwhp and 53 rwlbs. If your stuck on useing the lsl lobes the only other one I would use is the next size down, I believe its a 231/239. Keep us updated!

I am pretty sure I am going to pull the trigger on this one. The build is going to be a slow process, though. Hope to have it up and running by spring. Thanks for the replys!

Finally made the maiden voyage on the new engine today. Build is in my signature. I took an LFA and removed the DOD and VVT, kept the stock bottom end and flycut the pistons for PTV clearance. Chickened out on the 235/243 cam and went down one notch to the 231/239. I only put 5 or 6 miles on the shake down run but things look promising. A little more break in time and I'll get it tuned and to the track for some times. Should be a blast!

Nice build.

Looking at your cam specs and your static compression, I think that your dynamic compression will be a bit high ~8.9:1

Have you considered this issue? What octane are you using?

I will be interested to see dyno numbers or ET's for your setup.

Yep, DCR is probably around 8.6/8.7 by my calculations. I use BP 93 octane in it and only have a few miles on it so far. Fuel and timing decisions will be made once it goes on the dyno.

Going to clean it up and drive it more today!

Now I am getting a P0342 SES cam position sensor code. Sometimes it starts fine and sometimes it doesn't. I am using the Katech extention harness and have checked all the connections. I'm going to replace the sensor and see what happens from there.

Need to swap the two wires. Sensor is probably just fine....

The instructions that came with the Katech harness said that wasn't necessary as long as it was being plugged into the short extention harness that runs from the sensor down to the oil pan area. Also, why would it start fine sometimes and not others if the wires need to be swapped? I sure hope that Katech jumps in here.

The pistons were cut for both PTV clearance and to help reduce the DCR a little. Mike at AES did the engine work.

OK, I dug the instruction sheet out of the tool box and it said if you have hard starting to swap the wires but it doesn't tell how to get the connectors out of the body. Any help with this?

If you don't want to re-pin the connector there is an easier way to do it. On the vehicle side of the harness, remove the push pin retainer that prevents you from installing the connector backwards. Click the vehicle harness into the adapter with the lock where the push pin was. That will reverse A-C terminals without having to re-pin the connector.

Flipped the connect at the car wiring harness and cleared the code. Started 10 or 12 times without the code coming back. Fingers crossed that the problem is solved. Thanks again Jason!

Now to put some miles on that sucker.
