You need to ask before you commit, for the horse power rating on the rods, be sure to get rods rated at list 100 hp above your max intended power output, as far as the pistons any forge piston will do the trick, and they all cook, so be careful with the tuner you select.. I say contact Mike Callahan at Racetec Pistons, in Huntington beach CA 714-903-4362, he will explain to you about the different castings and how they work & give you a real good deal for the kit. Ask about the piston tec, and the race tec piston difference. piston tec quality is what others sell you for lot more $.

I have Scat H-beam rods and Custom Race tech pistons with ARP 2000 studs and i'm good for about a 400 shot. My car ran 10.39@129mph on the motor. Still haven't hit it with the spray but I intend on spraying a 200hp shot..
Make sure to buy a good ring set to. I am using Total seal rings with the steel top ring.

Wouldn't the rings play a bigger role in how reliable, generally speaking, the combo would be on a big shot then a set of forged pistons and rods? I'm not familiar with the essential differences and what makes a "nitrous" ring pack better for nitrous. Anyone care to elaborate?

IMO I wouldn't use Scat stuff. Most of the time there are issues with the finish of them. I have seen my engine builder hand them back to people who want him to put an engine together for them. He has always used Callies and said he pretty much won't use nothing else. Plus, its American made. My engine has Callies rods in it.

The SCAT H rods with ARP 2000 bolts are good for about 900HP. I contacted SCAT directly about this. I have SCAT rods. Use pistons made from 2618 alloy as the ductile alloy grants higher tolerances with higher resistance to detonation. The alloy is low-silicon and more piston-to-wall clearance needed.

I never said anything about the strength of a Scat i or h beam rod I'm talking about the the finishing of a product. If i buy rods for an engine i feel i shouldnt have to finish what they didnt do so i can install them.
If you talked to Scat directly about the rods, just remember, they are trying to sell a product. You would always talk up about something you are trying to sell

my shop says scat will hold up ok, but they have had problems with the finish tolerances (out of roundness, etc.), many have had to be re-worked. This shop is pushing the callies and k1 rods more now.
