Still wondering how people hit 600rw cam only on those. An intake, header, LS7 makes 475-490rwhp on my dyno. Most cam cars are 525-555rw depending on cam size.
QM600 makes 555-560rwhp but a huge dip in the low rpm area, nice pull 5000+.

Must have a crappy dyno.

What kind of springs are you guys running on these solid roller set-ups with stock casting heads?

Did that require any machining of the valve spring pocket to accommodate?

We have the same results. Add heads/ decked and they will make 600 rwhp but to be honestly I would rather choose the cams that make 530-540 rwhp. They are a lot more fun and don't give up that freight train torque down low that a LS7 has.

Yes, special machining and then shimming.

I would like to suggest that before you talk to a camshaft manufacturer or a speed shop you go to the Wallace Racing website and run their Intake Port Mach Index Calculator. - http://www.wallaceracing.com/machcalc.php

Input your piston diameter, intake valve diameter, peak engine rpms, crankshaft stroke, and a valve lift number into the Intake Port Mach Index calculator. Keep adjusting the valve lift number until you achieve a Intake Port Mach number of .50.

Take that lift number and ask your camshaft supplier to build you a cam with that lift thru the LS7's 1.8:1 rocker arms.

In addition, if you really want the best package and you are not concerned with street usage, have the engine built with .927" solid roller lifters, instead of the .842" hydraulic roller lifters that come stock with the LS7. Isky's lifter bushings - KLV-937 and solid roller lifters - 937K150EZMAX. Your springs should come from CV Products and they are made by PSI - #PSICT1572ML-TC.

Good luck with your decision.

Brain,

I am not trying to pick a fight.

I am trying to understand what the DIN correction method is? Also, does DIN use the same barometric, humidity, and temperature correction factors as SAE J1995? SAE J1995 has been used by the OEM automotive manufacturers since 1990 for measuring GROSS ENGINE POWER.

Thanks.

Very good catch there. The DIN correction factors are not the same as SAE. DIN corrected numbers are not as high as STD corrected, but they are higher than SAE corrected.

He's in Europe, and they may use DIN as their normal correction.

I think it's all relative, the car gained 160 rwhp with a cam, headers and a Fast 102, which seems like a pretty good gain to me. Especially considering in back to back testing we didn't find any peak HP gains with the Fast 102, only average power gains.

It was a bad a.. Cam and it made 572rwhp with full bolt on's and fast intake
I wonder how do people hit 600rwhp without touching the heads?
I want such a cam

I have a cam coming out soon to compete with the striker like cams out there. It will be larger than the ls7 polluter.

The striker was an overall cam, very strong mod range TQ and peaked like hell up top.
I have tried a lot if huge cams and ended up disappointed due to the weak power under the curve
Am waiting for your cams Martin ;-)

I've compared the valve events from the Striker cam to our new LS7 Saturday Night Special Stage 3 TorqueMAX cam and the LS7 SNS Stage 3 should create more torque under the curve due to it's earlier closing intake valve event.

We shall see soon!

This is next on my list of "to do" items. We will not be the first to market with a LT camshaft unfortunately, but we will have some eventually.

I just had another shop up in NJ break 600 rwhp with my Stg IV cam with minimal head work. I'm trying to get a dyno graph now. These cams are in stock and ship same day if ordered before 4pm eastern time.
