Lil Jon: Where are you going to get your valves from? I would like to run something a bit lighter in these heads than what they come with.

those valves will be heavy I promise you that.

FWIW the PRC small bore 260ccheads with solid valves were I believe 139g intake and 124 exhaust hollow stem intake valve was 112g? It's all in my post on the ehads if someone really wants to know for comparison sake.

The valves are 113g intake and 95g exhaust.

Brian Tooley posted that the LS3 hollow stem valves were 89g. Not sure where you saw 112g.

I am going to purchase the bare heads. I have already spoken to Advanced Induction. They are going to sell me the heads, install BTR valve spring kit and Manley valves. I have to follow up with them on what the part number is for the valves. I'll try to get the specs on the valves as well and post them up.

Once I get the heads I am ordering a custom VVT cam from Pat G and going to let him tune for me.

I'm hoping for a nice bump in power across the range. Not looking for peak numbers.

Anyone have any thoughts on this setup? Concerns? Recommendations?

Thanks.

Ok. Here are the valve specs per Advanced Induction:

Manley:

Race Master/Race Flow Manley Intake 11620-8 OAL 4.900, 117g; Exhaust 11621-8
OAL 4.923 93g

Apparently these are lighter than the Ferrea's which are what TF uses in the head.

These do not sound like they are extremely heavy.

Does anyone know of a better(lighter) valve out there other than Ti.? I'm confident in AI choice but there is nothing wrong with having all the information you can get.

The GM 4.900" stock length LS3 hollow stem valves are 89 grams.

The TFS heads have LS7 length valves, so the GM LS3 valves won't work. However, GM LS7 titanium valves with the head diameter turned down will work.

TEA will have an option for hollow stem intake valves for these heads, I'm sure AI will be able to supply those as well.

Hi Brian:

AI provided me this information regarding the valves they would use with the Trick Flow heads I am ordering from them:

Race Master/Race Flow Manley Intake 11620-8 OAL 4.900, 117g; Exhaust 11621-8
OAL 4.923 93g

If I am reading the info correct it appears these valves are the stock length? I think I need to let them know these are the wrong valves.

You're correct, those are the wrong length. The heads have 12 degree LS7 intake valve location and angle and therefore use stock LS7 length valves.

Thanks Brian! I got it worked out with AI.

By the way AI is very responsive to questions/concerns in case anyone is considering using them for work.

I cannot wait to get these heads!!!!

Sorry, I read your post wrong. I thought you were talking about ls3 hollow stem valves.

Brian, thanks for popping in here. I would like to run your spring package on these TFS heads but can't find any drop in valves yet. Do you know when TEA will have them available?

The last time I talked to Mike about the REV hollow stem intake valves for these heads he said they were "close" which I think means just another week or two.

I think the installed height when using my spring kit is going to be around 1.850" like it is on LS7 heads, so some shimming might be required.

So you like your installed height to be around 1.780 with your Platinum spring kit?

Once TEA releases the intake valves, where do we go for exhaust valves? Are turned down LS7's our only option besides the valves come stock in the TFS heads?

I might just end up ordering the TFS head with the stiffer spring. I would like to run tooley springs or the softer spring from TFS but I can't wait around for the next few weeks. I would like to make the next track date which is in two weeks. Summit has the stiffer springed head in stock so I might just order those early this week.

I called comp who ground my cam and asked how stiff of a spring they would recommend and they recommended a spring with more seat and open pressure than the TFS spring. So I think I will be fine. I just hope the LS7 lifters can handle the extra pressure.

oakley6575 I'm with you. I'm reconsidering my decision to have valves turned to fit when there will likely be valves available in a short time. Maybe even before I get a chance to order. We will see.

I'm thinking of purchasing the heads assembled and in the future make a change when spring kits are available that don't require any modification.

Let us know how the heads work out if you go with the assemble TF heads. It sounds like you are closure to being ready than me.

Thanks.

Looks like the LS7 hollow stems will be $200 and weigh around 100 grams.

I will be tearing my top end down in the next couple days (I have to do a brake job for my uncle and a couple more family projects before I can start on mine.) Should have the heads next week.

I'm glad to see you are getting them together. As you may have read( I sold mine to try and finish my engine aka T/B, injectors...etc. But if you are going to use LS7 valves Hollow or Titanium is the only way to go. Looking forward to see how That 5.0 Stang killer is going to do.
