Were all ls2 engines aluminum?
Guy close to me has a 6.0 for sale. I want an ls2 but will settle for an lq4 or 9. He says its an ls2 but its cast iron with 317 heads. I haven't went to look at it yet but I was under the impression that all ls2's were aluminum. Can anyone help me out with this quick? He said it came out of a 05 Silverado.

I really thought that they were aluminum still not sure either way. If its an lq4 or 9 it would still work for my project. 700 bucks intake to pan. he's supposed to send me some block numbers we'll find out for sure. I thought 700 for an ls2 was too good to be true.

coming from a 05 it would probably be a LQ9 or LQ4 I think the lq4 has dished pistons and less compression and coming out of a truck it will more than likely be a iron block.
"Technically" I think all ls2s are aluminum but the lq9 and lq4 are iron and have the same bore so you could just call it a ls2 no big deal

But be aware they are the same but at 100lbs heavier youl notice the car in turns etc will have more sway. Honestly ill go for the 100 lbs lighter then having a little stronger block!
