If it was that noisey, why didn't they AT LEAST pull a vc off to have a look? I would think it must of been somewhat quiet if they said it was ok to drive it on the trailer. This was probably because they didn't want to push it on trailer.

I'd personally take it to someone else.

Probably because they weren't sure what exactly was wrong & neither did I! Cuz if I did it would've been just as easy to pay them to remove the valve cover & see instead of what I paid my buddy to go get it. As it turns out it was ok to drive it on the trailer. It wasn't noisy at all when I started it. Lifter tray held the lifter & pushrod up in the tray so that's why it was quiet. I'll take it back to them so they can finish the tune, I paid them 1/2 already. I'm not mad at the shop, they didn't do a thing wrong.

that is a scary pic. You are lucky it didn't hang the valve or wipe the cam lobe. Double check all rockers after that.

Well yea of course I checked the rest! Ever do a big job & forget to tighten something? Not the 1st time, sure it wont be the last! Not that scary really, it was the best case scenario compared to what was rolling through my head all last week! One nice thing about the lifter trays! Figured I'd be pulling the head, so glad that's all it was!

Good to hear you have that taken care of. One thing I like to do personally, is to double and even triple check an install of a part before going to the next. Yeah, you can say I'm very meticulous. I take my time and make sure it's done right, and also one of the reasons why this build is in progress is such a slow pace.

I feel the same way, I've taken extra time on mine as well making sure everything is right. I originally installed 7.4 inch pushrods after using the pushrod length checker tool. After installing them I felt 7.425 would be better so in changing them again I missed one. I double checked all the others except that one! 7.425 was a good choice, 0 lash but rockers have slight wiggle room side to side on the trunion shaft. Put over 70 miles on it yesterday & it makes insane power! It pops out the exhaust up top so it needs to have the tune finished on it. Then see how much power its making

Expecting Manton Series 5 pushrods and a set of Proform LS valve covers arriving this week. This will pretty much button up this build.

I have a set of those valve covers and really don't care for the way they bolt down. However, have not figured out a way to do it better yet. Let me know what you think of them.

What's wrong with the way they bolt down? I have a set and couldn't be happier with them.

For a lil hydraulic cam like yours, should be no problem at all.

But, if you have to adj the valves on a SR those studs are in the way. Also, the stud near the firewall on the driver's side for a C5 has to be removed before removing the valve cover. Awkward, but doable. Maybe not a problem for the Camaro.

It would be better if the bolts were one piece much like stock, but longer.

The studs screw in and out fairly easy. And how could you remove the stud before the valve cover lol. Just lift it up a **** hair and work it with a wrench and let it lay in the head?

I've always used the series 3 on applications like BOLO's and SHovV.

We now buy our push rods from Trend, but when I used to order from Manton I always stuck with series 3 stuff 90% of the time.

The only car I have a cam in that runs series 5 are Outlaw Drag Radial Cars like Anthony Manna and Joe Dedona. Joe might run a Jesel push rod now that I think about it though, Anthony for sure runs Manton series 5.

You have to remove the valve cover bolts then lift the valve cover and remove the stud closest to firewall or cover won't slide out.

Also, very nice valve covers but removing them to essentially adj the valve lash 1 **** hair, 0.001", depending on **** hair genetics, on a c5 is a bit more time consuming. Btw have you ever adjusted valves on a c5 with these valve covers?

As I said previously, with a little work the bolt downs can be reconfigured.

Thanks Martin for your input on the pushrods. As I said, the series 5 are probably overkill for my application, but I'm sure it won't negatively affect for a better, stable valve train. I'm still waiting on them to arrive from Manton.
As for the Proform valve covers, it should be here tomorrow or Friday. I will post more pics as the build progresses.

Well, I just got off the phone with Manton and I will be getting my series 5 pushrods Monday. I was hoping I would get them today or tomorrow so I could have set valve lash over the weekend.
Hey blk00ss, do you have the part#'s for the valve cover gaskets? Is it stock oem gaskets?
