custom order Diamond pistons question?
anyone deal with Diamond for making custom pistons? or is that something I should take to a builder to ask for help with?

It's always better to buy an off the shelf piston and hone for its size. Custom pistons are expensive and take a long time receive. Only do it if you need something really special and if that's the case, take it to a professional engine builder.

If there isn't an off the shelf LS piston, could you use a gen I piston? I would think you would have to have the valve reliefs re-machined. At what point does a piston become a custom piston?
Re-machining valve reliefs, changing the pin location, odd size bore, any of the three? Or other items?

Launching!
JE sells a 4.075" x 3.622 (6.125 rod) -19.6.
JE Pistons
That's the closest I could find to a 4.075 x 3.622 -16 cc piston that is off the shelf.
I think Wiseco could build you a reasonably priced set of what you are looking for but, honestly, I've never bought a set. I'm only going by word of mouth so don't take that as gospel. That said, "reasonable" is a relative term. What I mean by it is 30-50% more then an off the shelf piece.
IMO, the best thing to do is contact the manufacturer directly or submit a form:

sorry I need -18 (dish). whats the max bore on a ls3 block? I've heard that its 4.1, and anything below (4.1) as long as i can get it to give me a 9.5cr, i'm good with it. and i want to be able to supercharge it too, so the closer to 4.075 I am the happier i am lol

the form looks tricky, so when i'm ready I'll contact a builder about it, see what he says. Maybe he will even let me help put the engine together, cuz I'm kinda afraid to do it myself, but I don't want to be left out of the process.
