Default 6.0 question. I'm no expert so I'm asking for opinions or advice

Ok, so as the title says I'm not an expert and will never claim to be. I'm at your mercy here.

I'm looking into building a motor then swapping it into my 00' SS. I really REALLY like the AI HCR heads and I think one of their cams.

My delima is this: I can get a very cheap 6.0....I like the idea of more cubes but I'm wondering if the AI heads will work well or if I'm shooting myself in the foot trying to go with a 6.0.

My dream goal is 500whp n/a.

Any advice, experience and opinions are welcomed. Thanks for your time

I went with a 6.0 after my 5.7 and transfered my HCI over. I love the better torque personally

Awesome! I'm wanting to build an.engine on a stand then drop it in so my car doesn't have to be down very long.

It's much easier to make 500whp with a 6.0L block.

If you got the cash make the 6.0 into a 402-408ci motor to start with. Your power goals will be a walk in the park with a 408ci motor....

Maybe the OP could copy you by starting with a 364 and looking for some decent 4.065" LS3 pistons. 376 inches with some hopped up 317 casting cathedrals and a 232 range cam will make great power. Doubtfully 500 rw but a strong torquey/driveable 450-460 would be fun any day of the week.

I was pretty happy with my combo for the little bit of money I had invested. It's a good bang for the buck recipe.

Thanks! I can get my hands on a 6.0 for $800. How well would a 6.0 (lq4) hold up being bored to a 408 and then sprayed?

The block itself will be fine. How much spray do you wanna run?

Somewhere between 300 and 600 HP depending on the heads, cam, compression ratio and bolt-ons associated with the engine.
