Default LS3 stroker w/cathedral cam?

I'm swapping over to an LS3 top end and wondering how far off my current cam specs are for an LS3 head.

Current cam is a 239/246 - .624/.595 - 113+2 which was spec'd for a daily driver 400 inch motor with cathedrals (driveability has been excellent).

Now going to Stock LS3 0821 heads - planning to mill about 50 - 60 thou to retain 11.2 scr.

I'd like to go Low-lash solid but can't afford the conversion right now. Rather than buy a new hydraulic cam spec'd around LS3 I'd rather run what I have and
save my pennies for later.

How much power do you think I might be leaving behind with the current cam vs. an appropriately spec'd HYD cam?

I saw GM High Tech do a test of cat heads and square ports. they took the best from both worlds and ran the cat heads with square port and cat cam profiles. The cat cam on the square port heads made about 3hp less than the one "optimized" for them. From that it doesn't look like you'll loose much if any. I'm no cam Guru and probably know less than most people on here about them, but one thing i've seen is people seem to run big splits on square port heads and you've got that.

I found the article, I hope this helps you.

With that cam I wouldn't be too worried. The ls3 heads love a big split, but if you're interested in a LLSR, I'd run what you have for now and get a new cam spec'd once you're ready. You'd leave more on the table not going to a solid imo.

I'm running a cat cam in my ls3 headed stroker and it seems to run better than some with ls3 headed cams.

Default heads up...

You will be good with that cam with ls3 heads and it should make power above the cathedrals.

You'll see a tenth of a point of compression gain for every 5.8 thousands milled off 69 cc chamber heads.

I'm planning to do the same, ls3 stroker w/ ls3 top end. I have a NIB EPS cam but I doubt its ideal. Its a 236/240 .630 .629 on a 111 lsa.

I run a 6 degree split cat cam in my lq9 with ls3 heads and love it. Yours has a 7 degree split and with some porting on the exhausts can be optimal. I ported my own heads.
