Default Planning my 416 build thread!

Hey guys. I'm am starting to plan my 416 build thread here. My last build was a turbo, going to try n/a this time. This will be a street strip car, looking for tons of low and mid range torque. Car needs to be streetable. 6 speed with 3.73 gears. Below is what I am planning on using and what I haven't decided on. Your opinions would be great.

My main hang up is i can't decide which heads, there seems to be a lot of good places to buy heads these days, and who I should have spec the cam.

Mamofied fast 102
102 throttle body
60# injectors (already have)
Underdrive pulley
TEA TFS heads or Mamofied afr heads.
BTR valve springs
Stock rockers
Forged shortblock from TMS.
Custom cam. Not Sure yet. Martin Smallwood or tony Mamo
Ls7 lifters
Racetronix 255 fuel pump. (Already in the car)
1 7/8 headers, not sure for the rest. I currently have magna flow, but I'm guessing that isn't going to flow enough. Maybe just run it with a cutout.

I would love to make 600rwhp, but i know that is probably never going to happen on pump gas. 550rwhp will make me happy. I'm thinking 11:1 cr. I will be using 91 octane. There isn't any 93 pump gas available around here!

Might wanna check out threads in the Dynomometer section (scroll down a bit). To that end and taking your goals in to account, I would consider Tony Mamo 235cc cathedral port heads and cam.

Read this ---->> https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...l-results.html

Thanks for pointing that out! I will probably go with the new mms heads. They seem to be doing awesome.

LOL.....well hell.....if you wanna compare YOUR setup to the Mamo set up, you can....just be honest about how you're running a lot more compression and a cam with about 15* more overlap to get the extra 17HP that you got.

I mean....for STREETABLE power, I think many of us would pass on a cam with 38 degrees of overlap.

IJS....

I'll pass on that for sure. Streetable is important to me. Some put up with more then others. I'll give up some hp.

Lmao. Get the Mamo **** out of your mouth and come drive my car. Tell me how streetable it's not

And it's only 33* of overlap. And I guess the 17hp more car you're referring to is the one you linked to? Well it has almost the same compression as mine. 1/4 point off. Woooooo. Oh and he had a electric water pump, RPS lightened flywheel. I had a box stock fast 92, stock water pump, 3" steel driveshaft, 295/55/15 drag radials, 9", spec stage 3 with heavy steel flywheel.... I wasn't after a dyno number. I was after track results. And it performs there.

I'm not really that concerned about max hp, wanting the ultimate street machine. Flat torque curve.

Well I'm not sure you'll hit 550 with a small cam and lower compression.

If you want a set of TEA TFS 245s, check my for sale post. I have a good combo deal w/PR and shaft mount rockers. The 416 is an excellent LS setup and almost all of them make good power.

Josh

PM or email me today....we can arrange a phone call to discuss the build.

I have helped many folks achieve exactly what your looking for. We can go over various options as well as cost and how they effect the end results.

Look forward to speaking with you

Btw I have built (and helped build) over a dozen 416's at this point and all of them with excellent results.

Regards
Tony

Anything worth doing is worth doing well. Build it right the first time....its alot cheaper than building it twice!!
