Default Help me choose my next mod.

Alright guys here is the deal-
Of coarse ive been bitten by the modding bug and need more power!
My car runs and drives exactly like stock, you'd never know it was modded and I love that. but it needs more.

Mods in sig, currently making 430/401

Options are-

Small shot of nitrous with a basic kit
Pros: Best HP per dollar

Cons: will likely toast my stock clutch, have to refill, nitrous can by finicky.

Bigger cam
Pros: More power all the time, decent hp per dollar

Cons: Have to rip my car apart.. again.., Possible noisy valvetrain and stinky exhaust/driveability issues.

Port my Ls3 manifold
Pros: Easy to do, little downtime, minimal tuning, low cost

Cons: Minimal gains

There could be other things that I havent thought of but thats where Im at. Opinions welcome.

Swap in a new set of gears, or delete any unnecessary systems from the engine. You seem like you know your way around things, so maybe just test and tune your brains out? Or upgrade that clutch ahead of time and make a good excuse to buy that nitrous kit later on.

I would love to do gears but unfortunately that is not something I can do myself which leads to about a 2k price tag. Doing a clutch on a vette sucks. did it 2 times on my c5 so im trying to hold out as long as I can lol

Jarren......gear swap is a good idea, and should NEVER cost you $2K.

Gear sets normally cost about $400 or so.

Gear swaps are normally charged at 4hrs of labor at about $100 per hour.....unless there's something WAY different with Corvettes that I don't know about

And PCM calibration (which you'd have to do for a cam, anyway) is.....whatever it is.

Best of luck!!

The mani porting is a great option to start with, but before you do any real serious power-adders, you're going to have to upgrade that clutch. Never fun, but is necessary

Might need to find another shop. I mean.....unless I'm REALLY missing something here, $900 labor is WAAAY over the top!

Why don't you check at a local truck stop for an estimate

My local drive line shop charges $300-350 for a gear swap which includes installing new bearings and seals for a complete master rebuild. That is labor only.

For $900 I would hope they are including the gears and master rebuild kit... Even then, it still seems like a lot.
