hi guys

i want to advice

my gto 04
l77 6.0 ( ls2 with 823 heads )
bolts on
3.7
4l60e with tcc

what about this cam shaft

HAWKS Sick & Twisted 235/243 .629"/.624" 113+2 LSA Camshaft

Product Description

Cam, Sick & Twisted Camshaft 235/243 .629"/.624" 113+2 LSA, LS3/L99

NOTE: This is a 3 bolt cam, for models with a single bolt cam (LS3/L99) you will need a 3 bolt cam conversion kit which we sell as well.

This camshaft features Comp Cams XER lobes! The XER lobes have been proven to make big horsepower & torque thanks to their aggressive ramp rates & healthy lift.

1800-6800 RPM Power Band; This is an excellent performance camshaft with an aggressive idle! Custom tuning required (Automatic cars will require an aftermarket stall converter as well 3600 stall recommended)

This camshaft has made over 500rwhp on an LS3/6-speed!!!

Aren't XER lobes hard on the valvetrain?

Probably the harshest hydraulic roller lobes that Comp sells.

They do make the power, though.....just better have a premium valvetrain.

I would look for something else. I would bet Cam Motion can make a cam that does all the Hawks' "Sick and Twisted" cam does, and be WAY easier on the valvetrain. Comp just does not inspire confidence in innovation like they used to. Just resting on their laurels....

On a ls3 Head, I'd be thinking more like 233/245 myself

Find something with less overlap.

I had a 227/235 Lunati cam that ran very well in an LS3-headed LS2. I believe the overlap was around 5*.

You would need to check PTV for sure. Your best bet would be to use clay and check it directly. if you are wanting to do a cam swap without pulling the heads, you'll likely want a cam with less overlap like muthugga said. but with LS3 heads, I'd go with a 10-12 degree split vs 6-8 like is typical cathedral
