Which isn't all that large hence why I think the drop in solid lifters might hold up if i keep rpm's under 7800. Plus i don't daily drive the Camaro. In fact I drive it less and less since buying another daily driver ls1 car. So the lifters won't get many street miles on them, lucky to clock up 3k miles over a year. Another reason I think they might hold up. If not my gamble didn't pay off and you can all tell me you told me so

In regards to your statement about the USA i somewhat agree with it.
The only reason things cost more for us is because of our dollar, and the shipping and if the item is worth over a 1000 AUD then you have GST and import duties on top of this.
Australia is definitely expensive to live in and making 100k a year does not equate to being wealthy. You will be "just comfortable"
Utilities etc are a rip off.
However items from summit racing are not really much more expensive than the what they guys pay for in the USA.
Some sellers are not willing to mark the value of the product lower for us aussies to avoid the import duties.
They do have valid reasons though.
I tried to get cam motion to do this and I was refused.
Then you showed me the same crane lifters on summit that were so much cheaper even delivered.
The USA does have some advantages however Australia does too such as almost free healthcare, much more civil society, and it's far safer here.
It's much less political too.
My cousin and best friend went over to the USA last year and they weren't all that thrilled with the place.
They both said food quality was better down here and the people in the USA seem generally unhappy.
Plus they found the yanks rude.
Then again, they only went to New York and Las Vegas.
It would be interesting to see how the country towns or more suburban areas are.
There are some really nice looking places all over the USA outside of the main cities.
I don't know of anyone who has gone there though.
If I had a friend in the USA who could show me around the country I would be thrilled to go and check it out.
My brother was in LA and Arizona. He liked it a lot. Everyone is different, some here hate USA culture others prefer it. He said Arizona is also still very free car wise. He said there were Harleys cruising around out the headers, cops wouldn't pull you over for cruising at 135km/h, etc. On the flip side, the state of Victoria over here made it instant loss of licence for doing over 125km/h. That in itself is a joke.

When you do the Summit shipping calculator it doesn't add the tax you need to pay, which will be charged on arrival. Except for when you add something to cart under a certain value ( I think under $650 usd) it does show you one shipping option with the tax charges included.
Either way this hobby gets very expensive very fast over here. I see some americans complaining over there about prices of these parts and think, what!? (and that's me knowing what they do for a living and what they get paid).

Can you believe even some motor mechanics get $1600 /week over there, and that's nothing specialised, just working at a dealership or whatever. Then look at their house prices in most normal areas (not NY city) and living costs and costs of material goods. In terms of a dollar earned verus a dollar spent they have it way better than us. Not getting into other things.
Anyway let's not muck this thread up anymore about here versus there because it could lead to pages of argument and possibly your thread locked if some others entered the thread.

I have no idea how to respond other than to say I did not mean to imply that its my personal preference or gtfo.

Very sorry for my contribution to this misunderstanding. I do understand where you are coming from on this.

Bortous and Launch, you need to get into the rural areas here in the states and meet some good people. I think you'll find we have much in common. Our larger cities tend to not have many with what we call common sense (though it's not all that common....). Rural life hits you with more of the realities of life.

THAT, my Aussie friend, is a do-able request!
And I really don't care either. Oz has many good points about it. Mainly a lot of good people! But then so do we.... lol

I was born in Australia but I am Greek Cypriot in nationality.
Before anyone asks the question what is the difference between the two here is the answer.
Greece and Cyprus speak the same language but the dialect is different in Cyprus.
The cypriots fully understand Greek but the Greeks don't understand us unless they are used to hearing the dialect.
Cypriots are definitely more laid back too and more hospitable.
There is no rivalry between us either which is good.
There would certainly be some very good people up in the USA.
Hard to find good people these days with the way the world is going.

Good stuff bortous! I got a bit educated here!
Only reason good folks might be hard to find is because the ******** of the world grab all the attention, usually the wrong kind.
Cheers, mate! And thanks for the Greek sociology lesson!

Please dont let the big city people of the USA be the impression you get of all Americans. Those people of Las Angeles, New York City etc are so far thrown off ,its the reason the rest of America elected our president to end political correctness. Most rural area people are kind hearted and want to help each other but will stand up and defend our country when the time comes. I'd love to visit Australia, probably the top country in my list of places I'd like to see.
The reason for us being so political in the recent years is the citizens trying to make sure our government doesn't turn us in to a socialist country. We wont back down without a fight.

Much respect to you all for paying the higher cost for the love of cars. I'd do the same im sure.

Come to the New Jersey Shore, the armpit state, unfortunately everything mentioned here is true. I was born in California, but raised in NJ. Not all of us are miserable jerks, but you d no doubt get that impression very quickly,lol...lots of cool features to this state, besided the masses of miserable humans. Pay here is good, housing is very cheap- ridiculously expensive often within the same town. But things to do, fun, hobbys, etc are endless. Just some people here suck. I actually feel bad for local LEO. Thier job is very tough.

After reading the last few responses it makes me want to come to the USA even more.
Looks like I will need more than one bottle of beer.
The western media doesn't show us what is really going on anyway.
It's all one sided and bias in favour to the western narrative regardless if it's true or not.
There are other sources for "real" news.

This is damned right. People like to make fun of red necks, but a true redneck will give you the shirt off his back

When you say Redneck the first thought that comes to mind is Cletus from the Simpsons.
That's what has been programmed into my brain from childhood.
I really need to meet the different types of folks over there in the USA.

That is the caricature. Sometimes there is truth to it. People are different everywhere.

Yeah man.
My vehicle is at the tuner getting prepared.
I am changing gaskets too to some thicker ones to lower compression to 12:1.1 from 13:1.1
He could not get enough timing in at 13:1.1 with previous camshaft.
I also contacted cam motion about the stroker king camshaft and the recommended compression.
I was told that if you go over 12.0 you won't really see any gains and you may have timing issues too. And this is with 26 degrees of overlap.
I should have an update some time this week.
Looking forward to seeing how this solid roller will do.

Let's keep this on track.

But before we do, I'm very liberal. And I own guns and have a polluter, monster engine car. You all can stick your stereotypes up your asses.
