Thanks for posting those threads. Diet coke suggested AI right off the bat and I have sent them an email but have yet to get a response.

The numbers on the casting pad are done the same way and the combustion chamber work looks the same to me. I think you guys have this figured out.

I know most companies these days have a logo that they do during the CNC process. From what I have found, it appears AI does not.

I recall them being hard to get a hold of. But seems like the do good work. They were also a sponsor also way back in the day.

If you have a hard time getting ahold of AI, call West Coast Cylinder Heads down in L.A., CA.
Richard is a super nice guy who will talk and discuss your needs. I did and came away impressed.
Their phone is (818) 705-5454. Ask for Richard, he knows his stuff.
I think you'll be glad you did.

I know Richard well. I have some of his heads on my daily. He has his logo engraved on the head during the CNC process. I have had a lot of work done there.

What I like is he won't do a sales job on you to sell you what you don't need. He cares about what you DO need.

Yes, I just wish his prices hadn't gone up recently.
I have had at least 4 sets of LS heads done and some other stuff that he has finished for me over the last 15 years.

I exchanged a few emails with Richard. He did go out of his way to be as helpful as he could. I have no doubt he would be a great person to work with.

After looking at the pictures in the threads 1fastbrick linked to I'm convinced that these are the A.I. 226. Looks like I got some proven performers here.

I am concerned with both the compression from the smaller chamber and the possible ptv clearance issues for my build but that should be a whole new thread.

Thanks to all for your help!

The letters could be the old owners initials which would make sense if a machine shop had a dozen of these lying around you would not know whos head is whos.

Just stick one of those heads on and check the PTV clearance with your used headgasket and see what you end up with. Then go from there. What cam are you using?

You should be fine on either compression. If you're really worried about it skip the expensive cometics and run stock gaskets. The compression will still be awesome at 11.5 static

I'm going to bolt one on this weekend and check the ptv clearance. I was comparing with a virgin set of 243's that I have and I think these have been milled .050.

I have the .041 gaskets already so I think I might as well run them. The difference in compression isn't really that much and with a better quench I'm guessing detonation won't be any more likely than with stock thickness gaskets.

I have a BTR Stg 2 - 227/234 113+2 that I'm planning to run.

You should be fine, but always check.

I believe 1 cc is .007 thousandths if I remember correctly

so you're closer to .030 off.

That would be true if the chambers hadn't been modified. There has been material removed from inside the chamber.

True, wasn't thinking of that part.
