Well the motor was shipped and I received it today. Box looked good nothing out of the norm, but there Was a nasty surprise inside.

But wait there’s more!!

The head and valve cover are trash, I have bought many motors for customers before and by far the least protected one I have got. And what do you know it’s damaged. This is BS now the motor has to go back to LME for god knows how long to get this fixed.

yea it’s just the luck that this build has had so far, at this point I’d settle for just hearing it fire up in the car let alone make a pass. Probably not going to see it for at least another couple of months, now it has to go back to LME.

What happened with the dyno? Sucks about the shipping mishap. Are they at least covering everything?

The numbers were about 150hp/150-200tq low, LME claimed it only made 823/609 with the Frankenstein intake. Power peeked at 7500 and was falling off, they claim it was The intake. After a bunch of back and forth with Bryan was suppose to send all the data to FED. They got nothing, then two days later Bryan said they had put the Motor back on the Dyno with their twin TB short runner manifold and it made 880/621 @8600 rpms and still pulling! There was no prof of this but I was like ok that’s better but not great. Where it got fishy is he sent over 2 graph the red line was the same run with the Frankenstein intake and one run with the LME, one to 8000 and one to 8700. Ummm the red line (FED intake) are different.....

FED and me think that they are playing with the numbers and that the motor makes more then claimed by LME. I was going to send the motor back out to be third party tested to Confirm that, but now it’s got to go back to LME. This was my first motor from LME and I’m really not thrilled with how it is going. It’s all of the little things now big that have happened throughout this build that has left a bad felling about the motor.

Man that's some sh*t luck. Is the head only cracked slightly on the edge of the valve cover bolt, like the pic shows? If so then why not just get them to send out another valve cover and run it as is. Looks like it'll still seal up with a bit of RTV? The head can always be repaired later on. Just a thought so you're not waiting months.

It looks like there is another crack down by the rocker stand, its a principle thing now. I have a ton of money tied up in this motor and I expected it to be 100% and not going to settle for anything less!

Ah the trials and tribulations of shipping/waiting for parts. Sucks man. Car is looking good though and sounds like it ought to run like a scalded ape. Hope the rest of the build goes smoothly for you.

Hey man.
It's a shame to see what has happened with that motor.
I would be so pissed too.
The potential will be so good once it gets fixed.

thanks guys, I really thought the build was turning a corner, just got to see how LME is going to handle this. Also FED is a few weeks out on a replacement head.

I did test fit the Alt when I was at the shop today, Dam this thing looks nuts!!

That is certainly one crazy looking engine.
This is a perfect example where the LS7 style head is fully utilised.
High RPM with a shorter runner intake.
Port size and RPM I think are a good match for this combo too.

I agree with you 100% this motor is a no joke motor. A lot of time and money is into it. From seeing what you just posted about the dyno graphs and the intakes I wouldn’t count on them fix it down the road for you. They need to do right by you and make it a 150% right period. Sucks to see you having to go through this. Hang in there man I’m sure it will be worth it in the end

Powermaster and Tuff Stuff do a black alternator like that.

I completely understand. Whoever crated it needs to do better from now on. I also think this covid bs has made some people be more careless also, forklift driver probably drove it into something or drove something into it.

LME shipped it, they do a ton of motors you’d think they would know better. And for sure the shipping company *** up and damaged it!
