Default 5.3l cam choices

Hey everybody, this past weekend my dad's 2013 Sierra 5.3l had a lifter roller pile up which kinda sucked as timing was not great at the moment
spent the better part of the weekend removing engine and tearing it down and confirmed #2 lifter roller toast as well as cam lobe
So, we decided to delete the afm system but having some issues coming up with a cam choice as there seems to be an insane amount of choices
want something that doesnt require bringing it to a tuner (very budget conscious)and will just drop in with normal lifters, want to keep vvt, so no 3 bolt swap

I have a used 6.2l cam at work i was thinking about but not sure if it would need a tune

Deleting afm with a friends hp tuners
Thanks!!

Which 6.2 is it out of? Truck, L99, or LS3? They all use different cams, some with DOD or VVT or both. Know what you are looking at.

It was a vvt, non afm 6.2l truck engine that the bottom end decided to make big holes in the block

Was just on summit's site and i think i found what I'm looking for, gm performance 5.3l cam dod delete cam, about $170

Find it strange local gm dealer said nothing was available to delete afm

IF the 5.3 was equipped with VVT, then the 6.2 cam will work. The GMPP one will not.

Can vvt be disabled in pcm or does it physically have to be removed, if it can be shut off in pcm I'm ok with that,

So far my research says the gm 12689035 single bolt cam will work with vvt (lt1swap.com), sounds like it has the passageway from the journal up to the cam bolt, i think i will order it tomorrow

Honestly if it was up to me id get a cam with a little more excitement, but my dad is 70 or so years old and drives kinda like an old man
