True story: I drive my little 5.3 S10 street truck to town today to get an estimate on window tint, when some guy with 3 teeth and Billy Ray Cyrus hair that I've never seen in my life comes out of Autozone, approaches me and says " hey man sounds strong, what's under the hood" , I replied thanks it's a 5.3 ls . He points to a black Challenger and says " wanna race my wife's car, it's got a turbo and everybody knows an LS beats everything anyway". I knew he was trying to be a smart ***, so I said sure 1/4 mile for $1000 bucks and he agrees to it. Then I tell him that this S10 isn't my race truck, I pull out my phone and show him the Happy Hooker, this is my race truck, still wanna race? He replied "no...no...no, I'm gonna pass". Yep, right.....I didn't think so, lol. Folks, you can't make this stuff up

He asked specifically about the truck you were driving. You tossed out a bet before saying anything about not racing the specific truck he asked you about. The only thing he learned was you wouldn't back up your own bet.

Sorry but I was there and know exactly what was said between us. He asked if I would be interested in racing his wife's turbo Challenger. He never once said would you be interested in racing "that" S10 against my wife's Challenger. He just "assumed" he would race the street truck without naming it specifically in his call out.

You paraphrased the conversation well enough to show you accepted a street race and then changed the setup all in essentially the same breath. Now had you told him about this truck and then said but I have a faster one at home and THEN he asked to race, you might have ground to stand on. This is one step above accepting a call out and then trying to use your buddy's car to lock it in.

So the premise here, is the fact he never used the word "that?"
Had he said, "My wife's Challenger has a turbo on it. Would you like to race?" He would have been able to switch out any vehicle he wanted, because he never added "it" on the end?
Street truck- Driven around town to pick up this and that while your out and about showing off a street rod that rarely see's 6,000 rpms.
Race truck-What else is there to say?
The man who approached him was most likely just talking anyway and if we're going to race, especially for money you don't send a boy you show the race truck. No more talkie talkie..
