Default 08 c6 ls3 ticking noise

Hi guys so I'm having a problem with my ls3 with a ticking noise

what i had already done before the ticking came:
lsr cam don't remember the specs
660 lift dual valve springs
trunion upgrade kit
ls7 btr lifter

After like 1k miles the ticking started

What ive changed when it started the ticking:
new king performance rod bearing old ones were find no deep scaring old bearings looked kinda new
and new gm oem exhaust manifold gaskets
new pushrods and checked the preload I'm around 90
new ls7 btr lifter

I'm still hearing a ticking noise u can't hear it to much from outside but inside the car it's very loud kinda like a bad lifter but this is my second set thinking that my old ones were bad but still has the noise. Everything I've done was because of the ticking trying to get rid of it gets louder from 1.5k to like 4k then the pitch stays the same the ticking does speed up with the rpms I can hear it louder from the shifter tunnel than from the engine way super weird I did have my Trans cooler line break and drove I think like 2 days and the Trans was dry refilled it with new oil all gears go in and stuff but for sure the noise is coming from the engine side I'm stumped does anyone have any idea what it could be

What trunnion upgrade? You should be able to determine which rocker arm is ticking by taking a piece of hose and putting it to your ear while you run it along the top of each valve cover. Don't rule out an exhaust leak as they sound similar to a lifter ticking.

I changed everything pretty much an still has the same ticking new lifter exhaust gasket and pushrods thought it was maybe a bad rod bearing but when i changed them they were all in new condition pretty much

You may have nothing to worry about. I've NEVER heard a quiet LS engine yet. The injectors firing away can mimic a lifter tick. I have a persistent one in my built LS7, and it's had 3 sets of lifters in it. Only does it at 2,000rpm, and only on the first start of the day. Yes, I'm running some pretty stiff dual springs on LS7 lifters, which is probably a factor. It takes over 5 minutes before it stops, and doesn't do it at all, at any time, from idle to 1,800rpm. Once 5 minutes goes by, it doesn't do it again all day. 45,000 miles on the engine, runs great, uses and leaks no oil. I'm done chasing it.

Pull off a VC and start it. I would imagine you should be able to find something.

the 1st video didn’t sound too bad, the second one definitely sounds bad

Sounds like valvetrain noise to me. No metal shavings in the oil or filter?

Stay away from Comp trunnions.

Nope I even removed the rockers and checked them for sticking they were all smooth rocking down and up that's why I'm stumped at what it could be I opened the vc and the sound pitch was still the same didn't get louder from opening the valve covers

I'm starting to think maybe it's the piston wrist pin but no one has a video of on going bad to see how the sound is for reference me like an idiot didn't check them when I swapped the rod bearings 🤦‍♂️ and dropping the oil pan was a mission lol

That's definitely valvetrain noise. You can also use an engine stethoscope or large screw driver to listen with in order to pinpoint the cause of the noise. Could be coming from an exhaust valve or an intake valve but I'm leaning more to an exhaust valve. The valves can make quite a bit of noise as they're cloing on their seats and it's even more noticicable with headers. Try listening to each primary to see if you can pinpoint where it's coming from.

Yup i actually have another ls3 c6 but everything is stock minus the axleback that has the valves open it does have that type writer sound very minimal.. the thing is sounded that that one but then the ticking started on the passenger side that u can tell it apart from the rest of the type writer sound
