My engine was already final washed and heads torqued when we found that 3/8 pushrods wouldn’t fit lol. Swapped to 3/8 to 5/16 tapered and it was very happy on the dyno. Was a little concerned but it seems to work ok.

Had i known they needed this much clearancing, i probably would've done straight 3/8ths for the exhaust side and the tapered ones for the intake side. Luckily i decided to throw on some rockers to double check for clearance at the pedestals once i got the pushrods. I've been caught off guard by stuff like this before, so i knew to torque everything down and do a true test fit while stretching the head studs to save my self later. I would have the car together and running by now if it was all pure drop in stuff though lol. Perks of being ahead of schedule i guess.

For those thinking of a quicktime bellhousing and use the 2in or larger ARH headers.. a good bit of clearancing is required to fit

And the passenger side header primary hits the ground lug on the block. Moved it to just above the starter. Likely due to larger power and ground wires.

And finally, 3/8 pushrod clearance in the heads. Tight but they all fit now

It lives! Stock intake and TB on it until i get it prepped for the dyno. Dont want to deal with tuning the bigger tb and injectors until then.

Open headers are way fkn loud. I have no idea how people do dumps. But overall no leaks and everything sounds/looks as good as it can at this point.

Still need to completely wire in the water pump. Then the aux pump and flex fuel stuff. May or may not get that done before it goes to get the 3.5in x pipe made. Likely doing aluminum for that one to trim some weight.

Flex fuel sensor and parts are in. DSX aux fuel pump is in and wired to the n2mb controller. Nitrous solenoids are out of the car for now, I'll add that back into the mix once the car is sorted.

Exhaust getting built May 23rd and I'll get tuned shortly after that. Not much left to do other than make a couple fuel crossover lines for each intake. Gonna be a long month waiting!

Initially, I would just like to crack 9's at over 140mph. The car went 133 on 26s and 130 on 28s. Picking 10+mph in our normal DA/air quality on 28s would be impressive to me. Too many people look at the results from places like MIR and think that is what they should be running everywhere!

Ultimately I am aiming for 9.5s @145mph. But i am very aware that will be very weather dependent (late october early november weather here in Michigan/Ohio) AND i will have take a little more weight out AND i will need to dial in the launch with 26s. I won't be spending any money swapping seats until next year and I am focusing on the 28s first since they are the only bias ply's available for a 17in wheel. Eventually i will focus on 26s, since that is where the big mph will come from. ET won't change much though. Plus, i still have the nitrous and i will need to 28s once i add that back into the mix

60-130 goal is 5.50s at first.. try and make some hero runs towards 4s once the weight and air quality are right..

Dropped it off to get the 3.5in aluminum x pipe made. Made sure to tell him to get the merge as close as possible to the collectors. Tune scheduled for June 12th.

Don't care about the sound one bit, but i am curious to hear it with the larger aluminum mid section.

That aluminum is gonna crack due to how much it expands and contracts with heat. This is why the company Vibrant stopped selling their aluminum mufflers. The last aluminum exhaust i saw was on an evo and it was just the catback section, while cold the tip was flush with the bumper but when it was fully heated the tip was 1” away from the bumper. Thats some serious movement and unfortunately it becomes brittle after being heat cycled all the time. Titanium is your best bet in this situation.

Well aware of the potential pitfalls of aluminum. This car sees very little street mileage/DD duty and we went with a higher gauge material. He's got a few other aluminum turbo cars out there that have been out for a couple years. If it cracks, we'll repair or move back to steel. And i will be sure to report back how long it lasted and what the usage was like!

Well good news is that I have the car back and I can go get it tuned. It also sounds incredible. Very similar to titanium..

Bad news is that I got an expensive reminder of why I do EVERYTHING myself. I'm completely disappointed in how the 3.5in mid pipe was done. He didn't put the merge where I asked him, which was as close as possible to the collectors. It's directly in the middle. That is something I could live with though. The most disappointing part is how he decided to tie back in to the 3in corsa over the axle pipes. He legitimately just let them hang in whatever position they wanted and then built to that position without ever fitting or correctly mounting the mufflers. It hangs low for absolutely reason and is nearly touching the trans/diff. The over the axle pipes are hitting in a few places, which is completely unacceptable since those the mandrel bent corsa pipes.. they clear just fine if you mount them right.. Just really poorly done overall. I am 100% confident I could do far better but I was hoping to save time on what I thought would be quick and easy for someone with experience building them..

I kept my mouth shut and didn't feel like it was in my best interest to have him give it another go. He seemed pretty happy and excited about it, which sucks cus he's a super nice guy. But if this was his best effort, I either need to do it myself or take it somewhere else. Which I will do after the tuning is done

Man, that sucks. It seems that way with a lot of things these days. People just don’t listen anymore.

Best of success with the do over…

At least it does look decent. Idk if the X placement really matters. The legs at the back shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Per the header wizard Calvin Elston, the closer to the collectors the better. Same goes for Y merges.

Yeah, logically, it makes sense. But the header design will have much more influence on overall power than the placement of the X pipe. There might be a few HP difference moving it closer. Talking single digits.
