Default Is there enough meat on the bone?

Want to build a 388.
looking at purchasing a L96 or LY6 block.
Was looking at doing a 4.060” Bore x 3.75 Stroke Is there enough meat on the bone to take either block out to 4.060”
if not, is there a production iron block that can go out that far?

A 6,2L engine has a 4.065 bore from the factory, and as most LS engines, has a 3.622 stroke. A 3.75 stroke really isn't worth the bother for a .128" increase in stroke.
Your combo would be 388.39 CI. A 6.2 is 376 CI, only 12 inches less, and are available in junkyards.

you can do 4.065 bore on any LY6 block no prob unless the core shift is absolutely horrible. I have a 4.065 iron build on the stand now. If you want more, do a L8T crank 3.860 stroke. Killer motor for the $$$.

Agree 100%. Most any Gen4 6.0 iron block will go out to a 4.065 bore unless it’s just a mess.

At a 4.065" bore on an iron block is there enough wall for boost? Is there a limit on how much boost?

Probably not enough to get crazy with it, but it should hold a small bump.
Bigger question is if your planning on boost too, why bore it at all? Bigger bore isn’t necessary if boost is applied.

I found a block core for $500.00 plus LTL Frieght. Is that a fair price?

Check shipping cost first. It’s out of control these days.
