Wrong, the intake is a LS7 intake!

Here's pics of the LS2 Intake.

As you can see the intake manifolds are easy to tell apart.

Anyone know how much the LS7 intake flows over the LS2?

I took about 60 pics of the CTS's and enignes, but these were the only ones that had anything of real interest.

BTW, look at this pic again:

Some of you have probably already noticed this, but you can see the cam sensor between the water pump and the balancer. It's just one more thing that says "gen 4." Also, the motor plate/timing cover that they used is just too cool looking. The dry sump isn't half bad either.

All the talk about the new LS7 Z06 motor being a 427 cid 7 liter motor is still very speculative and we will not know for sure until GM makes the offical anouncement in Jan. 05. For my money, and i hope i'm wrong, its going to be a 6.4 liter motor, making about 500 to 525 crank ponies, in a 3000 lb z06. The good new is that no matter with the displacement is this baby is GONNA ROCK as it seem like it will certainly be at least 500 ponies in a super lite car and should finally put GM back on top, at least for know, bc you no darn well MOPAR is gonna answer with a new radical motor for the VIPER, etc!!!

My bet is on a 6.4L motor. I have seen 6.4L in too many places..

But, then why would "7.0L" be cast into the block? Louis has pointed out several times that the CTS-V race cars DO NOT use a 7.0L. No other GM's use a 7.0L either save for the C5-R, which clearly uses a different block. What would be the point of casting "7.0L" into a block if you're not going to use it with a crank making it 7.0L?

Exactly. In my view, having "7.0L" cast in the block tells us at the very least that an engine of that displacement was under development at some point. At this late date, it seems that the motor should be "done," so why would there be a block floating around with the wrond displacement on it? Where I saw it was too obscure for them to have wanted anyone to see it, which means I don't think it was a delibrate attempt to decieve. On the other hand, I think that having a 6.4L in the GTO show car served a couple purposes. It made the displacement 389cid, befitting a GTO, and it added fuel to the 6.4L LS7 fire.

This is my speculative .02 It's clear that GM has a 7.0L block ready and stout enought to run in competition. Why would GM release a all new 6.4L Z06 Corvette ($50,000++) and also a 6.4L GTO (30,000+). GM has always been very protective of the Corvette. They always underrated the Camaro and Firebird for that same reason. To me it sounds that GM can do 1 of 2 things depending on market conditions.

1. Release a LS2 GTO next year along with the 6.4L Z06 and wait to see how the market reacts slating the 7.0L Z06 for the following year.

2. The C5 and GTO get a 6.4L next year and Z06 gets the 7.0L engine.

Seing GM previous decisions I'm leaning towards the first option.

Please do dot flame me this is just my observation and are not based on any real facts as I have not done any research on the subject.
