I am currently limping around in a 02 Z06, and trying to figure out whether to see how far I can push the envelope here in SoCAL .
Plans
1. With new longblock via 4.12" liners and steel 4" crank
or
2. just siting around trying to figure out what else I can mortgage over the next year and a half to afford a C6 Z06.

You have given me a lot to think about because I have been a hot rodder for 40 years. Anybody worth a %@#$% can make at least 600 rwhhp with 7L. I don't know how many of you realize just how much de-tuning Chevy did on their new LS7 but they did quite a lot of back peddaling to end up are 518 crank hp. Seems like they got concerned about giving us a better way of killing our selves. Go Figure!

I think it would probably be a whole bunch more fun kickin around in a C5 on steroids. I'm glad I ran accross this thread.

If it's big cubes your looking for we would be happy to build you a big inch motor out of our C5R block, or I can get my hands on the new Callies block. Callies is offering an LS1 block with the Darton sleeves. I had the chance to see one at PRI, very nice!!

anyone can get a race-engine-developement darton wet sleeve block from the inventor of the sleeve kit for 2200.00 so no 3150 is not cheap.

Would there be any difference between a "Callies" or "Darton" Sleeved Block? Besides price apparently.

Is Callies casting their own block, or installing Darton Sleeves in a GM block?

Would I be able to use my ported 5.3L heads on this, or would I need to get different heads?
Also, how well do you guys suppose an ls2 intake and TB will do on this motor versus an ls6 or fast setup? Last I saw, the ls2 intake wasnt doing so well on stock cubed ls1's, just wondering how it would do on a 402...

What all would be needed and what would be the cost to put a 402 ls2 into an '04 C5? I was considering going with a 408+ f/i somewhere down the line, but if I could save the extra weight by going with an aluminum block, I will. Also, what C5 ls1 bolt-ons fit the ls2? Thanks.

Seems like everythign ls2 specific is supplied with the shortblock. Everything other then the parts supplied should interchange with ls1 stuff.

The LS2 402 in my opinion would be the way to go. The weight difference of an iron block in a Corvette makes it handle a little different. Just about all the mods you can make on a LS1/LS6 can be made on this LS2. The main difference is the valley cover, front cover, and timming set.

We have a customer that completed one of our 402 short blocks with a set of Lingenfelter CNC ported LS6 heads (65.5cc) & a GM grand cup cam, compression is about 10.8. I believe it made somerwere around 570hp & around 515 ft lbs of torque. He was using the LS6 intake and a ported tb.
