Default LS7 crank!

i'm suprised, this really hasnt been addressed. i think the 4'' crank is going to make stroked engines- like a 383, alot cheaper! how much would you estimate GM charging for these, and would they fit in an LS1 (i would assume they would). this would really save us alot of money, considering eagle wants upwards of 2k for theirs...

Would they fit, physically...yes.
Would it work... I don't think so. There's a different number of magnetic points on the reluctor wheel. So the LS1 PCM wouldn't be able to keep track of timing.

Unless.......HP Tuners can re-write the PCM to recognize it in the future.

What makes you think they will be cheaper? Most aftermarket parts are cheaper than GM stuff. Look at a crate LS1 motor...you could build a forged big cube monster for the price of a stock crank/piston/rod ls1.

Yeah you could build a killer short block that's about it. Gm includes a pcm, fuel injection which alone i believe is about 2k. Plus heads, intake, throttle body............
I'd guess the crank won't be to badly priced, somebody just needs to make it work.

I take it you can't swap out reluctor wheels? I'm sure there will be a way to electronically alter the signal.

The eagle crank is no where near that at least from us. You are thinking of the Lunati or Callies cranks being 2000.00

wow, i didnt realize how cheap eagle was! i guess i was looking at callies. but still, the stock LS1 crank is obviously plenty strong and is $600 compared to eagles $960 for a stock sized crank.
