Are any of the LS2 oil pans, windage trays, & oil pickups different from the LS1?

Default Are any of the LS2 oil pans, windage trays, & oil pickups different from the LS1?

I blew my motor due to oil starvation from the chicken-**** oil pickup tube and its location and was wondering if any of the LS2 pans, windage trays, and pickups are any different than the LS1 as I know there are few vehicles with the LS2s? I'll be using a LS2 block for my new motor and wasn't sure if I should buy an aftermarket pan for a LS1 or possibly swap to one of the LS2 pans. I even thought about modifying my stock LS1 pan. By the way, I have a 2000 Camaro SS if that matters. Either way, I need a new windage tray for sure and undecided on what to do with the pan. I'll have to decide first what pan as I don't know for sure if I do upgrade to a LS2, that I might have to have the windage tray and pickup to go with it.

The LS2 pan will not clear properly for a F-body. I used my stock LS1 pan and it fits perfect. I also used the stock LS1 windage tray and oil pickup on my LS2 402. If you you are going stroker you will need to shim the windage tray for crank clearance.

I have a few little knicks in my stock LS1 pan, but on the inside, so I don't think it'll be a problem, but the windage tray is damage and is no good. So right off the bat, I'm gonna need a new one. As far as me even making this post, the design of the LS1 pan and pickup sucks as it caused my motor to go as it starved for oil when wheeling. So I was wondering if any of the LS2 pans and pickups were any better designed to prevent that from happening again. I have the BMR k-member which gives more room than the stock one.

I also have the BMR K-member but didn't want to spend big bucks on a LS2 oil pan and not have it fit. Call Kris Jones at SDPC. I know he did measuring a while ago. He might be able to help. I know the LS2 pan was redesigned to minimize oil starvation in high G situations, but I don't know of anyone using it in a F-body for drag racing.

No measurements, but with the f-body pan and y-body pan sitting next to each other, the vette pan is deeper over the k-member area by maybe 1/2" in the front and it gets worse going back toward the filter. I sold mine and bought an f-body pan not (and made a few bucks) not caring to try it.

Your oil starve problem is not that unusual and is shared by C5s which have a different pan. The C6 oil pan might fit an it is a much better one than the C5 Ls1/6 for stavation.
I have lots of pictures of the L2 C6 pan as I intend to try one on my C5.

I need to know if any of the LS2 oil pans will fit my 2000 Camaro SS (F-body) with a BMR k-member and if so, is it designed any differently/better than the LS1 to prevent from oil starvation? If none of the LS2s from any of the vehicles they go in will fit, no problem, then I'll have to move on. Thanks.

Going from memory here, but I believe the f-body pan stays shallow out a little past the 3rd bolt hole. Those pics show the pan drops before the 3rd bolt hole. Will probably hit the back of a stock k-member. Might clear a bmr.

The dimple for the driver's side bolt for the steering rack is not present on the ls2 pan either, so there's another potential trouble spot.

Well it looks as its not gonna fit, no biggie. I was just wondering if there was an alternative for a stock LS1 pan to prevent from oil starvation without having to spend $500+ for a Canton oil pan.
