Update....the car is ALIVE! Started right up... quiet valvetrain (aggresive cam), 50+ psi hot at idle, man am I happy.

That is very little work for such impressive results. Congrats on your set-up. I look forward to some dyno numbers.

got more flow at a .400" lift point than the ported ls6/fast90 combinations.

At the .600" lift point have more intake/head flow than ls6 ported heads without an intake.

Its going to be an interesting one to say te least, even with a moderate camshaft should do well. with a high lifting good duration, and all supporting cast we should see huge numbers.

Do you have any suggestions on how to get that LS7 intake manifold apart? I tried getting it open the other day, and its glued together so damn well...

Thanks!

Needless to say, I was very surprised and pleased with the results. Cant wait to hit the rollers and the track. This is on a resleeved 5.3 L alum block, 4.100 x 4.00 422". We also went through the whole motor, and hand crafted the pistons to accomodate the 12* heads, and offset guide spacing.

what was the intake runner volume before porting and after porting?

what about the exhaust runner also?

thanks.

GregFell,

We all can see that the ported LS7 intake to heads numbers are great,

what 327CFM@.5" with intake mani attached and 347@.6".

Most of the Fast90 combinations where 290CFM tops, even witha 350CFM head attached.

We never did see a dyno number.

Was wondering if you got a dyno number or track number out of this?

Dennis

I ran 6.91 @ 102 in the 1/8, haven't had it at the 1/4 yet (there was a BAD accident that day, and the track got hosed up). I'm guessing that was 10.7 or so. I was hoping for better.

I did dyno it, however it didn't make good power at all (in fact, very poor), so I'm not going to post them. I'm pretty certain I overcammed it and didn't have enough compression for it, its not making very good power at all. Very soft. I have a new cam in the mail. The torque curve looks great as far as shape, its just very soft. FWIW, my cranking compression was ~ 180-185.

I'll look for the flow numbers with the manifold.

What are you guys running for cams, on the LS7 heads? I would have bought an LG cam, but the guy I talked to didn't seem to understand any questions I was asking, and I'm not going to pay $440 for a cam when I can get one for $100 cheaper and I know what I'm getting that way.

Greg,
Maybe look at the GMPP Grand-Am Cup cam as a reference 239/251 106 LSA ICL 47.
XE-R 236/248 110+2. I think that would put you in the ballpark.

I think the second cam would get you pretty close. What did you originally run for a cam greg?

Gotta get a better intake system (Harrop?), but what's the point when you are so tire limited. The Z06 will not present that problem, but I love my goat.

I'm running a 246/257 112+2 cam motion grind.

Going to a 232/240 110+0 comp xe-r. The IC is 45* I believe.

That new cam looks like a great choice Greg. Any chance you could post up your cranking compression with this cam when your done?

Good luck and thanks.
