Default Building The World's Baddest Pontiac Solstice

If you think the glory days of hot rodding were the '60s, then you wouldn't be interested in dropping a 427ci, 550-plus-hp killer small-block crate engine into a modern, 2,800-pound roadster. This thing is gonna fly!

it did fly...and handle, and everything else......but they said it cost them more to do that car than it would cost you to go out and buy a z06

it rans tens despite not being set up for drag racing, and i believe it pulled 1.05 on the skid pad......it was pretty much engineered to perfection...

the thing people dont realize is the soltice is HEAVY for such a small car like 3200 lbs, so its not much less than a ZO6

The Hot Rod version (or whatever it's correctly called) weighed something just shy of 2900 lbs., if memory serves.

The Solstice is not exactly a "little" car. if you see one in person you will see what I mean. Yes its little compared to a f-body, but a Miata for instance is much smaller.

They got it pretty light with the $complete carbon-fiber body$ and misc. weight reduction modifications. NICE car though.

Although, it IS still a Solstice.

I REALLY like the solstice. If the new GXP is around 25K I am going to try and get one to replace my long-in-the-tooth '94 cavalier (daily driver). I drove a base sol this past week .

And yes stripped of options they weigh in at 2800#.

I am in the process of sending mine off to Chicago for an LS1 swap. I am going to put a forged LS1 with cam, heads, pulley etc. Probably 400 RWHP but that should be enough.. maybe a small shot (like 100 or so) 6 Speed etc, should be done within 2 months time frame. I am going with RKsports hood, and spoiler kit, but not doing the front bumper as I think its too agressive. Should be a fun little car after I'm done!
