Default Darton LS2 sleeves, Dry or MID???

I was looking on Dartons website and I could not tell if they Darton makes a MID sleeve for the LS2, can anyone confirm this???

Also, I very much enjoy doing my own work on my cars (rebuilt engines, trannies and whatnot) Is there any chance I could do my own engine resleeve?? I have complete access to a machine shop with 3-axis mills and stuff. I worked there out of high school doing mostly machining work so I have a ok idea of what I am doing. Is there alot of fixturing involved??
BTW, I have a 2005 GTO, ls2 that is begging to be a 427.

Thanks
UofMn

I would not even think about it without the proper training. I had a MID block that was basically a paperweight because the #1 sleeve was improperly installed and cracked the block. That was some serious money down the drain, because the sleeves cannot be removed and reused. I'm pretty sure you can get a MID for an LS2. Take my expierenced advise and get a block from RED.

I think it's @ $2600? Talk to Steve. He developed the sleeve. He chimes in on the board from time to time.

Deffinatlly only use RED. Steve is the man with the block sleeving. I don't think the LS2 MID is out yet, but the dry sleeve's are. I used those in my 454 build. The Block was $2500.

Default Ls2 Mid

No MID yet for the LS2 but soon. The blanks are in stock. All Darton needs is the time to get the programming written for the CNC machines to make them.

The MID for the LS2 will go to 4.200" bore same as for the LS1 block.

The LS7 dry liner in the LS2 will go to 4.1875" bore normally aspirated. For an all out supercharged or heavy nitrous engine, the MID is a better choice.

I will PM you pricing on sleeves and installation.

Steve

Steve

is there really any good reasons to wait for the LS2 MID sleeves over getting an LS1 MID?

for an all out race NA application, how big of bore would you recommend going on a LS7 Dry liner?

thanks
