As qouted from the GMPP website: Crank Sensor: Production 58X

This part concerns me, doesn't a LS1 have a 24x. Isn't it crank dependant? A LS1 Eagle 4.100 crank should work fine, correct?

Where will we be able to get head gaskets from, GMPP?

I saw that also, I think that it's a mistake. Looks like some info taken from the LS7 data. I'll find out today.

Cometic will make head gaskets for the LSX.

This is great. Stronger than production blocks AND competition means, lower prices.

The question is...will the SBC now become the next Ford Flat head?

That 50 year "habit" will be hard to break... WAY too many aftermarket folks still making a good living supporting the small block chevy and its variants. There is plenty of room for the SBC and BBC to continue to "season"... and offer a family rivalry if you will. Watch for products like the LSX block to continue to show the superiority of evolution...

Will there be a GMPP shortblock or longblock offered?

Or will we have to order these shortblocks from sponsors?

I don't have the means to build an engine from "scratch."

It was a semi retorical question. 50 years of development, tooling, performance, and relibility won't disappear in a realitively short 10 years.

I love everything except the weight. Any chance that GM with offer us an aluminum version of this block in the future?

Robin had said earlier there was a chance of that, but that it would probably be another year.

It would be nice if it was 24X.

Is GM calling this a Bowtie block?

The block will acept any of the reluctor wheels on the crank. (You big stroke guys watch for piston skirt clearance.)

If you want to use the GM electronics you will need to use a LS2 style front cam sensor.

There are a ton of threads about converting to the LS2 style sensors.

So there are no provisions in the valley area for knock sensors like a stock LS1 has?

Any chance you or someone else could post some more pics of this block at different angles and higher res?

What head bolts will we be able to use, standard LS1 ARP kit?

If the bore spacing is the same as a regular LS1, how is this block that much different than a stock LQ9 iron block? Why wouldn't we be able to bore out a LQ9 block the same as this new GMPP LSx block (up to 4.250)? Please explain and be technical.

I'll enjoy a nice fun H/C car for another year or so while purchasing a house, then I do believe I will be going all out with something like this. I'll probably be following a build one of you pioneers will be doing, so really looking forward to this!
