Default Any negatives on Hooker's on 427

Due to budget issues I need to know if the Kooks are really worth the extra money over the Hookers. I am building 427 LS2 w Fast 90/90 set up and very healthy cam. Thanks for the input.

Hookers Coated: $820
Kooks uncoated: $1097

You're building a 427 and thinking about short cutting headers over a few hundred bucks? Do the Kooks.

Eldebrocks, stainless steel just released, should be around $600, and has a true race merge collector.

I was gunna say go with the Edelbrocks as well. They will give you a stepped design over the Hookers, and should be equaly priced, coated. The Kooks are stainless, so there is no need for coating. If the Edelbrocks come in stainless, that would be nice.

Give me a call at 260 244-4808 for a great price on Kook's headers, much less than the price above. Bob

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...petition.shtml

1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8, with a 3 1/2" race merge collector.

I switched my Hookers for stepped Kooks and gained no E.T improvement.

When talking with Kooks a long time ago, they reccomended not going to the stepped on a stock bottom end motor unless you were spraying 200+ or had alot of forced induction. However, they would be a great 400-427 ci header.

It provides a scavenging effect that helps pull exaust from the port instead of being pushed by the motor. However, you need enough motor to be able to use the size header in question. For a stock bottom end, 1 5/8 stepped to 1 3/4 would be much better, but no one makes it.

I am going with a LS2 427, would you recommend the stepped header?

Look at my sig, does it look like I'm running a stock bottom end?
