DIFFRENCES BETWEEN WARHAWK BLOCK(biggest one) AND THE LSx BY GM PERFROMANCE PARTS

and the WARHAWK

What would be the diffrences, i know that you can get a few diffrent sizes, and the GM can get up to 511cu IN A SMALL BLOCK , but the GM block costs $2000-2500, and the WARHAWK starts at $3500. Theres got to be other diffrences than that, and is GM a good company over World? Thanks, any other info. would be nice to hear about!

They said any of the LSx heads would fit. The block comes bored to 4.0", but once you bore it out it's ready for the LS7 heads.

As far as the difference between blocks, I have not assembled a GM block yet, so I don't know the downsides if any. The World block is a very well thought out piece and does not have anydownsides in my opinion. We had a very trouble free build and did not have to make any modifications to their platform.

Warhawk block supplys the crank first with oil, then the cam, with restricters in the lifter galley.
Billet mains on the Warhawk, not sure what the GM will come with. I would hope billet. But at the price they've thrown out there now, I would say thats a negative.
The head studs are threaded basically as far as they could go on the Warhawk block. That's another bad *** feature...

basically the warhawk weighs 98lbs and the LSX 225. thats HUGE, IMO.
rumor in this months GMHTP magazine is that there will be a Warren Johnson lightwieght version of the LSX block for guys that don't need the strength for a 2000+hp block. it will weigh 20-40lbs less.
ET took a warhawk block out to 4.185 bore and the LSX can go to 4.25. with the same stroke that is about a 15 cubic inch difference, so you need to ask yourself if the extra 127lbs is worth the extra 15 cubes. I don't think so. if the WJ-LSX block weighed was only 87lbs would it be worth the 15 cubes?? maybe...
then again the LSX block is going to be ~2000 and it will cost you ~4500 to get a Warhawk after you get all of the 'required' extras. so that is a factor also.
tough decision, I don't think you can go wrong either way. I don't see any negatives with either.

The release of both blocks is exciting news to all of us. This gives us two more nice options for high-hp builds. I'm sure both brands will have fan clubs, and we'll see some impressive builds with each. I've seen both in person, and they are very nice designs.
Someone asked about the requirement for custom headers. Those would be needed on the tall-deck versions since the cylinder heads would be positioned slightly higher than a regular deck block. That means your headers would sit higher too, which may mean that there would be some interferences that didn't exist before.
