Do you have any other weights of cranks laying around? Like the stock LS1/LS2, aftermarket cranks, etc? That would be a big help to have the information in one post...

The Callies 4" Dragonslayer weighs about 46 lbs. That should give you an idea if the LS7 is heavy or not.

How ironic, with all of the efforts that GM put into reducing weight on the Z06 cars, which is signficant, to have a crank that is this heavy (on top of all things, intertial weight too!!!) is nuts! I mean, ti rods, with a 56 pound crank? That just seem really odd. Of course, the hyper-eut' pistons, and the strange wrist pin designs make you scratch your head too.

Louis, are you working with Callies or anyone else for aftermarket LS7 cranks? I owe you a call, need to find a free minute, but it's looking like I will be building a LS2 based motor after all, L92 heads are in hand.

The LS7 crank is not so stupid when you consider it is a 4" LSx style crank for ~2/3 the price of cheapo Eagle--- (~$750)

I have a stock LS1 crank sitting in the garage at my parents house, but never got a chancethought to throw it on a scale. Anyone know how much weight can be lightened?

Its common practice for alot of race cars to cut the counterweigths damn near off then add heavymetal near the shaft to allow them to rev faster, if you take weight off you got to add it somewhere else on the crank unless you go with lighter rods and pistons of course.
