Default MTI Hand Ported L92 Cylinder Head Flow #'s

Here at MTI our cylinder head department has been working extensively with the L92 casting heads with stock valves to come up with an inexpensive cylinder head for big cube motors. More emphasis was put into the R&D on the exhaust port and the results we were pleased with.

Intake Runner Size: ~278

Soon we will be testing before/after results on a 427.

Here are the preliminary before and after flow numbers of what you would get with the new MTI L92 Cylinder Heads.

Package price for assembled heads/complete L76 Intake coming soon!!

Price for the pair of assembled MTI L92 heads coming soon!

Thanks,

Good to hear MTI is doing the L92 heads. Nice results. Have you flowed them with the L76 intake yet?

Wow, it was pretty crazy to see it jump close to 18 cfm at .300, 20 cfm at .400, then close to 30 cfm at .500.

Im still worried about the low exaust flow #s in comparison to the intake. Will a bigger exaust lobe make up for it?

Also would this be a good choice for a blower application? Again that exaust flow scares me compared to aftermarket castings.

Looks good - about 10% increase in int/exh ratio.

Would love to see the results with a mild street cam in the 22x range.

just use bigger splits, anyways the aftermarket cams on these heads are all still in their infancy, most are shots in the dark, it is slowly becoming clearer as to what works better than other.

Huh? Ported L92's vs. Ported L92's?

MTI vs TSP. They exist on different ends of the aftermarket spectrum. That is all I will say about it.

Zach, a local Houston porter was able to get some crazy numbers by swapping the 2.165 intake valve to a 2.125 valve while moving the exhaust valve to a 1.60. 300cfm at .400 lift on the intake.

here are the flow numbers:

Stock it flowed 317/218 @ .600

After porting:
238@ .300 intake
297@ .400 intake
360@ .600 intake

257@ .600 exhaust
Have you ported a set with smaller valves. I believe the seat will allow you to do so. the valve has alot of overlap. Good number nonetheless. Also.... why enlarge the runners so much. Are they not 260 as cast?

Thanks for the interest guys. I believe this will be a promising head for the big motors that we build, I can't wait to see some back to back testing here in house. Like mentioned before these are preliminary numbers with the stock valves, this also keeps cost down on the cylinder head which puts money back in your pocket. We are working on different valve variations at the moment. More Info and Pictures on the way!!

Test cams have already been made for this setup.

Like mentioned above, these are preliminary tests. Now we know what the port will do and in under the port size of other ported versions offered. So now we can focus on shrinking the port size without adversly affecting flow.

Subscribing. Will be in the market soon for a budget set-up.

I am looking for a package of assembled L92s and L76 with cable 90mm TB for under 2k. A package that will bolt up to a 6.0. A matching cam would be nice too. I think SLPs package is a little pricey.
