Default L92/76 cam choice, what do you think...??

251-258 .640/.645 113

Ported heads, intake, & 90mm LS2 TB

Anyone have any thoughts..?????

and what would you use it for, If you were gonna use it???

I have the ported l92/l76 combo. My cam is a 248/256 615/595 112lob. It was custom groung for me,so I don't know how the advance is set up. It was also designed to work with the flow of the l92 heads. It peaked at 6,500rpm's and at 7,000rpm's was holding strong. My clutch was slipping bad,so I only got 480hp 430tq at 24deg timing(mustang dyno). Because of the clutch we could'nt finish the tune and get the timing up to 30deg where it should be. This cam drives around town great and sounds tough. If you would like to talk to the guy who had the cam ground his name is kirk at vector motorsports (586)790-2970

Roughly the same overlap... Interesting.....

You haven't mentioned anything about your compression ratio, tranny or rear gears - that kinda helps when trying to spec out a cam...

Its suposto(sp?) be a 4500rpm stall... but w/my 346ci motor it stalled at about 3800-3900 rpm's w/ a 2500rpm footbrake at the track....

I figure w/ the 408 it should be roughly around 4200rpm's???

With a 408 I'd consider American Racing headers with 1-7/8" primary collector tubes. Then a 3" ID true dual exhaust all the way back. Then you're ready for that bad boy cam you're talking about. The Texas Speed Texas Giant 248/254 Camshaft or a custom grind might be in order. Try to keep the LSA to 112 and you've got it.

I already have 1-7/8" cartek headers w/ 3in exhaust all the way back.. The 113LSA is for the nitrous.... Sound good???

Id rather be in hawaii... The northeast is not so fun during the winter.... Do you think my cam choice is good??? esp. for nitrous application.... This is my 1st L92 setup....

I'd probably go the custom cam route over say the TSP giant. Just call up a few sponsors, and see what they recommend for your build. It sounds like it will be one mean ****!

As long as you don't get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic all the time like I do. My car is a 6-speed. It really sucks to have to rev the engine, start to let the clutch out and immediately come to a stop again. Parking lots aren't a lot of fun either. Big cams like to be cruising doing at least 2500-2800 RPM's. When my car was stock I could just let the clutch out, without giving it any throttle at all and the engine would run smooth at 2-3 MPH. Now I need to be doing at least 12 MPH or the surging and bucking begins. I'm curious to see how an automatic trans with a big stall converter will compare.

I have a hard time understanding why street driven combo track driver go with such crazy lifts & duration?? That is insane when most smaller cams with hp & torque in the low also mids is much more fun to drive on the street. Most even out run the guys that over cam. The largest dyno numbers in the upper rpm's doesn't always make it fast at the track. It's like you bought the cam based on how bad it sounds at idle?? I run 12.12 @ 112.93 with a big heavy SSTB & it has 11's in it with a small shot & bolt-on's & the other SSTB (LS2) owners with smaller street cam's are running the best times over the large cam guy's with tune issues also bad street manners. One 4600 lb small cam only SSTB is running 11.50's @ 116 (no headers) go figure. You guys at over 1000lbs less weight could be running a full second faster then the SSTB's with a lot less cam & be fun to drive on the street. Unless it is a trailer car? With the L92 heads you need even less
cam. The numbers listed up top are insane big you will have a slug at less then over 5500 to 6000 rpm's.

You do realize that a larger cubic inch motor takes a larger camshaft right? As far as how I picked my camshaft... Thank God I'm only the financier my engine and I wasn't responsible for designing anything. The comp cams rep custom designed my camshaft specifically for my exact setup.

Your numbers aren't so bad but extreme for a street driver cybernco its these by VH5150 that are trailer car 5,000 stall numbers,
