Default L83: swapping to LT1 cam worth it?

Picking up a low mileage 2019 L83 / 6L80E takeout to swap into a 1971 Lemans ragtop. Definitely keeping the VVT and AFM as wife and I are retiring to Lisbon with it's $8/gallon fuel. The cam in the L83 is small, wondering if a 6 degree increase in duration is worth the hassle?

Call Cam Motion and ask them. They are pretty up on the DOD/AFM/VVT cams

I am starting to lean that way. If I have to pull the heads it will be a hard no.

Bobby Biancaniello did reply - he is asking questions concerning the build and other components. I thank him for that.

Update: I was told by Cam Dynamics that with keeping the existing torque convertor, valve springs, etc it would be best to retain the original L83 cam.

Any enigine I would have out of a car would rapidly have AFM deleted. It’s a ticking time 💣

I did delete the DOD; seems other than online badmouthing GM is also slowly phasing it out.

I did put in the LT1 cam from Michigan Motorsports
