Default First F-Body (pics)

I have been lurking around here for a few months trying to figure out which direction to go. LS1 or LT1 ? Well, based on my budget I had set for myself to buy a "play car", I decided on the LT1. I figured for $5500.00 or less I would be buying someone else's junk if I went the LS1 route. I found a 97 LT1 vert for $5300.00 and have been really happy with it so far. Aside from the functional ram air hood, the car has been unmodified - FOR NOW .

Here are a few pics

Anyway, this is my new ride and I look forward to learning as much as I can from this forum.

I am willing to bet you'll do more than this. It never ends once you get started

Talking

tax money is coming and momma (wife) said i could have a some to spend!!!

the list has grown of course.

-wheels - rpm 505 staggered 18s most likely
-rear end swap - 342s in place of the 273s i have now
-i have a fresh 96 lt1 sitting in my basement that i was going to put in my 94 z71 as a conversion but i sold the truck. now it will be going it the car.
-6 speed conversion
-full exhaust

wheels on car are sold as soon as the new ones get in. knocks off 600 buck spent on the new wheels and tires

the motor that is in the car now is spoke for as soon as it is out. 850 off the 6 speed conversion cost and if i can sell the auto, that will be that much better.

i have a very understanding and TOLERANT wife. just gotta love her!

thanks for the compliments by the way. this site is very useful. glad to be a part of it.

Nice looking car but be so quick to assume that LS1 cars that you for under $5000.00 are problems. The oldest LS1 f-body is already 13 years old. There are tons of them are that are clean and problem free in the 5500 range. It prob works out better for you since you have a nice new motor to put in the car! Keep everyone posted

i will keep up with my progress. as for the cam, i am in a bit of a dilemma. my budget is maxed if not a little over with the things listed above. if i spend the money on the cam, i cant get the 6sp and i dont want to waste the money on a stall for the auto when i know it will come out later. i need two new tires and know i want new wheels so i dont want to waste the money on two tires for wheels i want to replace. i could hold off on the exhaust but that would defeat the cam and so on..... i think if i hold off on the cam for now, i will be happy with the performance changes with the above mentioned for the time being and later put the cam in. just thoughts in my head.

The LT1 section on this site is pretty good. When I had my LT1 it helped me fix or work through a lot of issues.
