Default Looking to buy first ls1 any thoughts?

i found a 2002 camaro ss that is vortech supercharged. the car has 74k miles, and other then the vortech supercharger and 40lb injectors it is totally stock. he claims it is putting down 471hp on 91 octane and 520hp on ethanol. the thing worrying me is that the car has a stock 10 bolt rear end, he's running regular street tire no radials though. should i make a move and try and buy the car or is it a bad idea? i don't plan on adding anything to the car just leave it as is for now anyways until i could afford a 12 bolt for it. thanks in advance.

The power level sounds about right. If the price is good I would jump on it. The 4th gen is a little tight to work on but a blast to drive.

yes its 6 speed and I'm trading my current car plus 4500 for the car. like i said the only thing that worries me is that stock rear end putting down that type of power other then that the car is in almost perfect condition.

Go for it! If I were you though, as soon as I bought it I would take it to a reputable tuner in your area and have him check it out and make sure the car is running right (make sure its not running too lean or rich, all that jazz) You never know and its even more important when you start looking at forced induction....... My buddy bought a supercharged mustang off some kid who swore it was tuned properly..... guess what, it was running waaaayyyy too lean and he ended up melting spark plugs and lost 40psi compression in half the cylinders because he ignored me when I told him to have the car looked over.

imo nope... but the upgrades done far outweigh that.. buy it and save money for the rearend upgrade the stock 7.625 rear will not hold up, so consider it the weak link....
