New guy, with a LS376 Sting Ray
I realize I'm kinda out of bounds, but a share a common engine. I've only has one other car with an LS1 in a 2000 Ram Air Trans Am, I bought new. I just bought a 1967 Corvette with a new LS376/525 with a 4L65E tranny behind it. I am an old school small block guy with a 1964 Sting Ray with an L76 solid lifter 365 hp sharing the garage. That, I can work on, this new one I'm a total newbie as far as electronic tuning and all that goes. I will definitely be asking for guidance here getting this LS3 dialed in. I often stalls on me after I come to a stop. Normal idle about 750 but will drop to 500 as I'm almost stopped and then shut off, gotta sort that out. I love the engine its got gobs of power and the Vette only weighs 3100 lbs. Thanks again for having a site full of people sharing.

Welcome to LS1Tech! Looks like a super clean install. The idle return is a tuning issue. Post the issue ove in our PCM Diagnostics and Tuning section of the forum. Lots of smart guys here to help you out with whatever comes up.

I only have a code reader, going to have to get some more "stuff" as I get up to speed at tuning. I contacted a local LSX specialty shop Redline Motor-Sports near me in Pompano Beach to have him look it over, I've communicated some of you guys thoughts on this which is really helping me. Remember now I'm coming from my 327 cu in 365 hp solid lifter engine, I use a feeler gauge for setting lash, a dwell meter and a timing light for ignition, this is light years from that. I also have a 2107 Z06, don't tell me too much I could be dangerous....lol
I built the LT4 engine in the Z06, but that was mechanical, if anyone is interested here's a slide show from the Performance Build Center at Corvette Bowling Green. Sarah Watkins an engine builder guided me through the process.

First of awesome car you have there. Pretty Shure the ls525 got the asa cam. I think 95% of your problems could be solved with a competent tuner. If you want to go a little farther I think a more modern profile custem spec'd cam would really make that ls3 shine. Any way great combination you have there.

1967 Sting Ray LS376/525
OK an update to this post, I scheduled a tune but couldn't get in right away so I had some time to learn and experiment. I came across a couple of guys who have very some very good running LS machines and they both told me the MAF was to close to the throttle body. So last Sunday I went to a Pep Boys Speed Shop and bought a 3" long viton rubber hump coupler that spaced the MAF & TB about 2 1/2 inches. I fired up the car and began driving to let the computer learn this new setup. Wow what a difference, the car is fun to drive and it really develops some power. I have now spliced in a polished aluminum tube that extends the distance to about 4 1/2 inches. The car is now running so good, I called and cancelled the tune for now. Between the posts I've read here, the guys I ran into I'm very pleased!

Glad to hear it was a simple/cheap fix. Again absolutely beautiful car you have. Wouldn't mind hearing a sound clip off that loping through those side pipes !!!!!

This LS376 engine is really quite something, my LT4 is very powerful, but it's more refined in it's operation, it pulls hard as you listen to the supercharger. This LS engine under the hood of the Sting Ray reminds me of videos I've seen of a P51 Mustang with a V16 Merlin engine or a P47 Thunderbolt with the big radial engine under the cowl ready to pull hard as you give it throttle and it outright roars as you do.
