Intro
I have been cruising the forum boards for a couple of years now. I use the 69MyWay name at most places I frequent. I am sure I have bumped into a few of you before.
For those that don't know me you can learn more at my site:

Pretty much in a nutshell, I am a car nut. Finished my 69 Vette aka "Killer" in 2002. I have recently launched a 69 Camaro project very near and dear to my heart.
I have jumped over here to learn all I can about the LS1 conversions. I had planned on putting a super charged LT1 in my 69 Camaro. In fact, I have three engines lined up and have notched the subframe on the car to use the F body brackets...which I later learned had to be Caprice/Impala brackets to use the super charger (that is another story).
Well....last weekend a friend of mine turned me onto a LS1 from a trans am for $400. It comes with the long block, intake, water pump, flexplate, manifolds, and misc items. It does not have the accessories, coil packs, and maybe no injectors. I am set to pick it up on Monday. It was in a stolen car that ended up with a hole in the oil pan. Oh...it comes with a new F body pan. I obviously need to go through it before I get to deep. I have been told this is a good deal, and considering I can sell off my LT1 stuff I may be able to get the $$$ I need to finish putting the LS1 together.
So...speaking of getting too deep, I am here to learn more and find out what else I need to consider to put this thing in my Camaro instead.
See you around!
Chris
When I brought that heap of fractured fiberglass and rusted mess home, even I had no idea it would ever turn out to even run again! So...many hours of one-on-one work and plenty of sleepless nights working out the details...and there you go.
Thanks!
1. Complete long block with sensors
2. Intake and injectors with throttle body
3. flexplate
4. F fody exhaust manfolds
5. ONE NEW F body oil pan
6. Balancer
7. misc brackets...etc
8. Water pump
9. Idler pulley
**There is a hole in the oil pan on the driver side in the front corner of the sump down portion. What is interesting is the basket/baffles in the pan are still there with no damage. It appears to be a collision damage. The pan has been removed, bottom end was inspected and it was put back on. I will take it back off tonight and poke around.
The intake has a grid pattern on the bottom, so I guess this is a 2000 or older NON LS1 intake. I then assume the engine is from 98-2000.
All that for $400. I guess that is not so bad.
I still have to get accesories, starter, coil packs, and tear it down to make sure there is nothing else wrong.
Keep a watch on our classifieds forum or post up some parts wanted posts in there and someone will most likely have what you need. Used LS1 parts are pretty cheap fortunately.

Yep...glad to join the LS1 family. I have MUCH to learn.
Great news on the parts section. I will need to sell the LT1 stuff I have accumulated to help pay for some LS1 stuff.
Getting ready to unload the motor and will post pics later.

Here is the hole in the pan. Notice how the baffle behind the pan wall is untouched. This is clearly damage from the outside in. I will know more in a couple of days. Had to go get long metric bolts to attache this monster to the engine stand last night, so no time yet to probe around.

Just spent some time on your website. Just one word....Awesome. My brother's really gonna love your Tainted Love video. I didn't know that was your ride. We already have some of your cars pics saved on the computer.
Now I can't wait to see what you got up your sleeve for the camaro.
