Why would you post that video? And why would cosworth want to watch it?

Having seen that video for the second time, the first time being when the programme was actually aired, I cannot see what on earth everyone on this site is getting upset about! Richard Hammond - who I wouldn't say no thanks to - actually defended the car and really liked it.

Every car they review on the show has a devil's advocate. One of the presenters will hate it, one of the others will love it. It's what we call freedom of speech.

American cars generally are not popular in the UK because we have to pay nearly £1 per litre of fuel and cannot stomach the bills owning a "muscle" car would bring. Plus the fact that there are cars made by European manufacturers which manage better on our roads, and in Europe they drive on the same side as in the US AND make a RHD version for the UK market.

I believe that Corvette won Le Mans (24 hours), Sebring (12 hours) and the class this year against Ferrari 550 Maranellos and Saleen S7Rs. Yes, Porsche is a different class. Can't be all bad?

If the Brits are sensitive to gas mileage, they would really hate my Firebird, which gets a 1/4 mile per gallon.

Against Saleen and Dodge. Porsche is not in the same class.

I am not trying start a war but that video was brutal. First off the corvette would have been a lot better in the straight line race with an adequate driver. Second they didnt comment nearly enough on the fact that they are comparing it to cars that cost nearly twice as much. If you put the maybe $5,000 into the corvette it would kill those cars in every way. I dont personally see whats wrong with leafsprings they definately got the job done. I think the driver on the road course was not used to the car at all. Also refering to the gas mileage I just saw a write up and the corvette actually got better gas mileage than the porshe 911. I am not trying to flame anything but the makers of that video must hate americans to be that brutal. the main host guy did seem to like the car a little and did try to defend it. All the reviews that I have seen dont put as much emphasis on the country its from and seem bias because of that fact. Its nice to see the UK guys and welcome. I am just trying to give some info that the video did not.

TransAmJo,

Your comments are duly noted. I think the problem is that instead of having a rational discussion about the merits of the car and the guys who were talking about it, most British people are upset about the total slagging off of us, everything that is deemed to be British and calling all our blokes "homos"......

bickelfirebird, OMFG, 1/4 mile per gallon, you are taking the **** aren't you? (a US gallon is different to our gallon though, right?)

One gal. UK = 1.2 gal. US.; or 4.55 L. v 3.785 L.

But any way you measure it, a 622 cid motor sucking around 2000 cfm gets **** poor mileage.

Clarel, you're up late. What time is it?

that programme is sometimes very blinkered but dont take offence guys, they slag alot of cars off on there, they have a hall of fame board on there which actually puts the new 911 in the uncool category!!!!, i do enjoy watching it just because its about cars but few people over here actually take any notice of it.

like i said before i like american cars but there really not suitable for british roads
and as clare said we pay ridiculous pricess for fuel.

Well, thanks for the offer, but the car weighs 2400 lbs. with me in it weighing 200 lbs, which is the minimum for Top Sportsman.

Yea, a 1.02 60 ft. is pretty much a blur.

Interesting. What kind of engine is it? My Dad has a Merkur which has the SVO turbo 4 banger. It's not fast, but pretty fun.
