ls1 dream come true
Whats up guys, great to be apart of this forum. I have had a passion for these cars my whole life. Ever since the first comercial for the t/a came out back in late 97 or early 98 ive been obsessed with it, and even before with knight rider and smokey and the bandit. And finally, yesterday I bought my first ls1. I actually had a 99 fb v6, but my friend wrecked it doin 80 over a hill about a month ago. And yesterday I bought a 99 ta, with 51,000 for 12,400. Silver with ebony leather, traction control, brand new tires, automatic (not an m6,i know, but I couldnt pass up this deal) bone stock, just the way i wanted to start it out. I have many mods in mind, first thing will probably be gmmg chamber exhuast system. If you guys have anything to add or recomend anything im open to it. Great to be apart of this forum.

The catback itself will not give you absolutely any power difference (save for 5, at most, hp). The catback is not where the bottleneck is. Bottleneck is in your stock headers, and the ypipe, which GM in its infinite wisdom decided to flatten. (Get underneath the car and take a look.. it's one sorry looking ypipe).
For the price you'd pay for a GMMG catback, I'd advise to go with some long tube headers, and a catted ypipe. You'd actually gain power. (Plus, if you'll ever install cam/heads, your exhaust is ready for it)
And if you're not hellbent on starting off with exhaust, then I agree with the other guy - definitely get a high stall torque converter + shiftkit + tranny temp gauge

Forget the catback. Go with a Stall, trans-go shift kit and a trans cooler and a set of good tires to handle the new found power to the wheels.

i'd make a bet that you will become happy that you bought an auto if you like to drag race the car alot.
1st mods- lid, thermostat, fan switch (no air filter, keep the stocker it is better= no oil), tb coolant bypass, egr neck cutoff, new plugs, oil etc.... then start saving for stall/shiftkit/cooler, and some drag radials or good tires and a tune is definetly good also. 12's that easy my friend!
if you are going for the sound only and don't care about only going fast go get the gmmg and enjoy the awesome exhaust note.

If you're thinking about dropping the car I personally think that would be my first mod...probably not others but definitely mine. I have Eibach Sportlines on my car so I can say that they are very decent, to say the least. I love the stance my car has right now. Im sure that if you didnt want to go as low someone else can vouch for the prokit or hotchkis setups. If you like sportlines, also check out Intrax.
